The storyline of a young talented footballer turning into crime due to corruption sounded so cliche. I know the movie was set up in the ghetto but the use of profane language was too much. The main theme of gangsterism would have still been effectively passed without the use of lewd language. The plot also took quite some time to develop. There were also some unnecessary scenes that were not adding up to the storyline.
Not to be so negative, i enjoyed the acting by Nyakundi Isaboke( Kasisi) and Basil Mungai (Kevin). The location, costumes and music was superbly done.
The director too did a wonderful job. Generally, the movie is worth your time. You can spare your free time to support Bwana Mkurugenzi.

This is what we call local natural talent and content. Its dope and big-up to all casts and the producer. Bila kumwacha storyteller mwenyewe you've done a brilliant job. Abel Mutua as my role model acha nimalize campus nikutafute coz my wish and passion of acting will come through. I wanna showcase my talent as well. God bless you all for the good work and may He continue using you to grow more talents and content. After winning all those awards which you deserved, continue winning and shinning. Let's aim and go international. From Kenya Africa to the world. My name is Randy Biketi. Social media handles randy_degrees. This is my review.

I definitely liked the movie but I wouldn't say it's a 9. I'm confused with the very high rating. With these shows you have to compare the with the best of the best. Not unless we are only competing with other Kenyan films. But if we aren't then a 9 is very unrealistic. Even in comparison with other local films I definitely wouldn't give this a 9. But I have to give credit where it's due. Philip is definitely getting more creative and so is Abel. I would like to see them advance to other complex scripts in the future. Let's not just stick to the boy from the hood who has to make it through a tough life. I feel like all Kenyan scripts revolve around that. Nairobi half life is about that and many others. Please Think out of the box next time.
