Totally Cute Comedy Drama
This series has two flaws - they only made 1 season and did not release an English dub! The books are still being written and English translations are available, so be sure to read the books.
The production quality is very good, with fine art design, animation, and sound. The opening and closing theme songs are very catchy. The characters are cute and the main one, Mia Luna Tearmoon , sometimes reminds me of Anya in Spy Family. Her wild facial expressions are a funny representation of her inner turmoil and confusion. If the other characters actually saw her look like that, she would lose all credibility.
The setup is that a selfish and foolish princess is beheaded during a revolution. She goes back in time and is resurrected several years earlier. She now has the chance to do better and try to avoid execution. This "redo" premise has been used in many stories, but is presented here in its own uniquely humorous style.
Mia begins her efforts with a cheat sheet from the future (her blood stained diary), and lots of luck. Part of the humor comes from other characters choosing to reinterpret all her statements as having the wisest meaning possible. She gains the nickname "The Wisdom of the Empire." Meanwhile, the narrator is constantly belittling her, sometimes overly harshly. A continuing joke is a cute guillotine running around chasing after her.
As the story progresses, Mia solves many problems, works hard, and eats a lot of sweets. (Her brain does not work without sweets!) She gradually becomes smarter and wiser as she tries to prevent famine, epidemics, and revolution.
If you like world-building, social dynamics, light romance and humor, you will enjoy this.

The comedy and drama!
Interesting premise, good comedy, really fun mc, good drama & politics, and good production quality.
Medieval Europe and the French Revolution were as major inspirations for Tearmoon Empire. This anime is a comedy, drama, time travel, villainy kind of show. The primary idea is that the main character was executed by revolution as a result of the royal family's failure, but she was later revived and time traveled back in order to solve the issues facing her and her empire and steer clear of the same religion.
This is an intriguing story not simply because of the concept, but also because the protagonist, although given the opportunity to right her and her empire's wrong, chooses to proceed in a way that is characteristic of her "selfish" nature, even though this makes her seem nice to an outsider. In other words, the character is not entirely transformed from bad to good in the play; rather, her identity is preserved, but she now adopts a different way of thinking because she recognizes the need for change.
The comedy and drama that make up a large portion of this anime are also its strongest points.
