First draft of the script was written during Script Frenzy a online contest to write a 100 pages in 30 days.
Protector Dragon is a real life protector. A stuffed animal of actress Kami Leach (Mia) used in the film has been by the bed side of three of her family members as they underwent surgeries for heart disease and cancer.
Temperatures reached 115 degrees while filming. There were 4 reports of heat stroke, including Sarah Moore (Rosie) during the dream/death sequence, Melissa Chapman (Carol) after the park scene, a protester and writer/director Kate Chaplin at the City Hall protest scene.
In the original script there was a flashback sequence to Rosie's creation in the basement of the Owens house ending with Rosie being put in hyper sleep in the box. The role of Doctor Johnson was to be played by David Ross, who when the scene was cut was cast as Berg, the son of Doctor Johnson.
The picture of Doctor Johnson is writer/director Kate Chaplin's husband's great grandfather Frank Williams.
