A number of the exterior shots were filmed in Long Grove, Illinois. The covered bridge they drive over has been damaged multiple times over the years by people attempting to drive over large trucks over it. It's become something of a local joke. One of the candy stores there even calls themselves "Broken Bridge Treats."
