Suzume & Ayame, Dr. Gensai's nieces were not included in this series. like they were in Rurouni Kenshin (1996).
Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan (2023) is a remake of the original adaptation, utilizing new animation technology to make it appealing to both new viewers and returning audiences of the series. Supplementary modifications were also made to bring a more serious tone and depth to the story.

The Fight scenes, are much more fluid and show more body techniques & movements, rather than just sword clashes and air cut swings, like it's 1996 predecessor series. Also, the sound of the clashing of the swords actually sounds like what metal against metal should sound like, instead of light glass clings which was what sounded like in 1996.
