The first magic themed Kamen Rider series.
The action scenes in this tokusatsu show using incorporate elements of XMA, Extreme Martial Arts. Due to the shows merchandise, specifically the Wizard rings, Toei didn't want to portray Wizard punching anyone with them on his hand, hoping to avoid the kids at home imitating him and injuring themselves in the process.
Instead, XMA's speciality is flair and kicks. This allowed them to avert the problem and give Wizard a radically distinctive style. Seiji Takaiwa has been the suit actor for the main Rider for over a decade, but Wizards fancy XMA action was portrayed by Hideki Sugiguchi, who trained in America.
The episode titles in this Kamen Rider Series installment have a tendency to be written in the kanji and hiragana formatting, very rarely being written in the katakana format.
Kamen Rider Wizard's forms share similarities with Kamen Rider Kuuga's forms. Unlike Kuuga, Wizard doesn't have a weaker form, though because Haruto's civilian form can still use magic without turning on the Wizardriver, this could be considered his equivalent of Growing Form. Both have 4 standard forms that are each connected to the elements of fire, water, wind, and earth. The red fire-based form is also the primary form of both Riders. Rising Forms & Dragon Styles: Both are upgrades to the Riders' 4 standard forms. Amazing Mighty & All Dragon: Both are a further upgraded version of the primary form with an exponential increase in destructive power that could, in theory, be used by any of the other forms as well. Rising Ultimate & Infinity Dragon (Gold): Both are a further advanced version of the final form that use the same title as their respective upgrades, and are mostly gold in color.
With 53 episodes in total (including 2 post-finale episodes which serve as the TV special), Kamen Rider Wizard is considered the longest Heisei-era Rider series in history, beating Kamen Rider Agito's record of 51 episodes. If the specials didn't count as episodes, however, then Wizard's episode count record would have been tied with Agito's.
