In 1959, New York Times critic Brooks Atkinson heralded the arrival of a new musical comedy star in Once Upon a Mattress, a retelling of Hans Christian Anderson’s “The Princess and the Pea.” Carol Burnett, he wrote, has “a metallic voice, an ironic gleam, and an unfailing sense of the comic gesture” as she “discharges” the music “as though she were firing a field mortar.” Meanwhile, her co-star, Joe Bova, as Prince Dauntless the Drab, only received mention from Atkinson as one of several “winning young people” backing up Burnett.
Dauntless has always seemed a supporting part, inevitably overshadowed by Princess Winnifred the Woebegone, one of musical theater’s most boisterous, irrepressible heroines. But Michael Urie, playing Dauntless in the new Broadway revival of Once Upon a Mattress, a transfer of the Encores! production that opened in January for a two-week run at New York City Center, reveals that this...

Buffy the Vampire Slayer's real-life bands bring the music of the 1990s to life in Sunnydale's Bronze club. Bands like Sprung Monkey, Velvet Chain, and Cibo Matto added an extra layer of authenticity to the show's universe. From memorable moments with Michelle Branch to quirky tunes by Nerf Herder, music played a vital role in Buffy's storytelling.
The numerous real-life bands on Buffy the Vampire Slayer serve as a perfect time capsule for the 1990s. The series, which ran from 1997-2003, took place in the fictional town of Sunnydale, which had a club known as the Bronze. Despite the monsters roaming the town, the club attracted some great bands. While Buffy the Vampire Slayer is remembered for wonderful things, music is a vital aspect of the show that tends to get overlooked. The series even has two soundtrack albums.

Shy was a highly underrated superhero anime in 2023, despite its unique take on the genre and clever storytelling. Season 2 of Shy has been announced, but details regarding the release date and staff are yet to be revealed. The second season has the potential to bring Shy into the mainstream and gain the recognition it deserves, with an anticipated continuation of the compelling story and character development.
Shy is a superhero anime that was criminally underrated in 2023. The show had a unique take on the superhero genre that took clear cues from the magical girl genre and some very clever storytelling and editing, but due to a variety of factors, it was largely unnoticed during its run compared to other anime of the fall 2023 season and the year as a whole.
Shy's lack of attention during its run was very unfortunate, but there's a chance for the anime to redeem itself.

Shy is a superhero anime that lives up to its namesake. When I saw that it featured a superhero who had social anxiety, I thought it was truly an interesting premise. Now that the show has concluded, did it deliver upon my expectations? Let’s Jam! The Story Teru was chosen to be Japan’s hero. Most of the major countries have at least one person who is chosen to be their hero […]

After a slower episode #5, Shy episode #6 is expected to pick up the pace and continue the series' exciting action. Episode #5 of Shy served as a training arc for Teru, focusing on her character development and emotional growth. It beautifully showcases the series' emphasis on emotions and will likely continue in episode #6.
Shy episode #6 will probably pick up the pace after episode #5 gave the series a deserved breather. Episode #5 kept things pretty slow, but it was a welcome change of pace after weeks of nonstop action and had a lot of great character moments for its lead and other members of the cast. All in all, there was a lot that episode #5 did right, and it leaves a lot to be excited about for episode #6.
What Time Shy Episode #6 Releases
As with previous episodes, Shy streams exclusively on Crunchyroll, which can be accessed either through their website, their app, or Amazon Prime.

While appearing to be part of the superhero genre, the latest conflict in Shy – currently streaming on Crunchyroll – is patterned after traditional Magical Girl anime. It's both an interesting move and an excellent way of standing out among its peers.
Teru Momijiyama anxious nature might not make her typical superhero material, but it's also perfectly in line with what makes a good Magical Girl. By presenting one story as another – and vice versa – Shy taps into two very different audiences without scaring either off. With superhero stories growing in popularity, it's a welcome breath of fresh air that keeps it from feeling mandated to follow formula.

Episode #4 of Shy is almost here, and it will see the titular protagonist put to the test against fellow hero Stardust. Compared to the first two episodes, Shy episode #3 was a lot slower with its story, but that served as a nice cooldown from how intense the previous episodes were. Even with that, however, there was plenty of great development to be found in episode #3, and a lot of great content has been set up for its immediate follow-up in episode #4.

Warning: Contains spoilers for Shy episode #1.Crunchyroll’s new superhero anime Shy has only just started, but it already works to fix one of My Hero Academia’s biggest problems. Shy is set in a world where superheroes from across the world came together to prevent a Third World War, and ever since then, an era of peace has been established. In the present, Unilord, the leader of the world’s heroes, has called for the heroes to come together to face an emerging threat, and at the center of it all is, naturally, the titular protagonist of the anime, Japan’s hero, Shy.
Shy has an interesting premise for a superhero story, and one thing to take away from it is that it fixes one of the biggest problems with My Hero Academia. With Shy and My Hero Academia both revolving around superheroes, there’s naturally a lot of...
