Blue Miburo , an upcoming TV anime based on the historical fiction / samurai manga, has revealed a new cast addition for the series. In the series, voice actor Megumi Ogata (Muku Shinto in Shy ) plays the role of Kikuchiyo, a young man who is actually the shogun Tokugawa Iemochi. Blue Miburo broadcasts in Japan beginning on October 19, 2024. Crunchyroll will also stream the series as part of the fall 2024 anime simulcast lineup. Murphy stars in the reimagining of Max Porter’s novel Shy, and also produces under his Big Things Films banner with partner Alan Moloney. Exclusive: It’s been a long time coming amid trickles of information that never were fully confirmed, but the Shelby family faithful can now wholly rejoice as the Peaky Blinders movie is officially moving forward. Netflix has greenlit a feature film that will star Oscar winner Cillian Murphy in a return to the iconic role of the Birmingham clan’s leader Tommy Shelby.

Tom Harper is directing the untitled film. Harper is no stranger to Peaky, having helmed the back half of Season 1.

Production is set to begin later this year from a script by Peaky creator Steven Knight. Producers are Caryn Mandabach, Knight, Murphy and Guy Heeley. Exec producers include Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren and David Mason. The feature will be made in association with BBC Film.

Michael Urie will reprise his Off Broadway performance opposite Sutton Foster in the upcoming Broadway summer transfer of Once Upon A Mattress, the Mary Rodgers musical newly adapted by Amy Sherman-Palladino.

Urie and Foster will continue their roles when the Broadway production moves to Los Angeles’ Ahmanson Theatre in December.

As he did in the recent New York City Center’s Encores! production, Urie will play the good-hearted Prince Dauntless, who becomes smitten with the free-spirited commoner Winnifred (Foster), much to the chagrin of his not-so-nice queen mother.

The second season has the potential to bring Shy into the mainstream and gain the recognition it deserves, with an anticipated continuation of the compelling story and character development.

Shy is a superhero anime that was criminally underrated in 2023. The show had a unique take on the superhero genre that took clear cues from the magical girl genre and some very clever storytelling and editing, but due to a variety of factors, it was largely unnoticed during its run compared to other anime of the fall 2023 season and the year as a whole.

Shy's lack of attention during its run was very unfortunate, but there's a chance for the anime to redeem itself.

After a slower episode #5, Shy episode #6 is expected to pick up the pace and continue the series' exciting action. Episode #5 of Shy served as a training arc for Teru, focusing on her character development and emotional growth. It beautifully showcases the series' emphasis on emotions and will likely continue in episode #6.

Shy episode #6 will probably pick up the pace after episode #5 gave the series a deserved breather. Episode #5 kept things pretty slow, but it was a welcome change of pace after weeks of nonstop action and had a lot of great character moments for its lead and other members of the cast. All in all, there was a lot that episode #5 did right, and it leaves a lot to be excited about for episode #6.

While appearing to be part of the superhero genre, the latest conflict in Shy – currently streaming on Crunchyroll – is patterned after traditional Magical Girl anime. It's both an interesting move and an excellent way of standing out among its peers.

Teru Momijiyama anxious nature might not make her typical superhero material, but it's also perfectly in line with what makes a good Magical Girl. By presenting one story as another – and vice versa – Shy taps into two very different audiences without scaring either off. With superhero stories growing in popularity, it's a welcome breath of fresh air that keeps it from feeling mandated to follow formula.
