Incredible Girl

1 review
10/10

Awesome atmospheric short

This piece is stunning. It tracks the 'incredible girl' as she moves through a sexualized dance party in search of a viable partner. While I'm tempted to say that the direction, set and costuming combine to create the kind of startling defamiliarization of a Die Antwoord video, the means to the effect are quite different, as is the usage of the effect, which here serves to make the viewer vulnerable, and thus viscerally empathetic to the 'incredible girl's' journey. Experientially, the piece is altering, in the way that films that suggest chemical intoxication can be, in this case invoking a kind of mimesis of an MDMA trip. Highly worth the watch. Amazing that pieces like this can be made by talented independents reliant on crowd-sourced financing.
