The 2013 comedy "Convenience" was a movie that I had never heard about, prior to sitting down to watch it here in 2024. And with it being a movie I wasn't familiar with, then I didn't know what I was in for, nor did I have any expectations to the movie.
Writers Nick Dunn and Simon Fantauzzo put together a unique storyline. I found it somewhat devoid of comedy elements and I wasn't brought to a single laugh throughout the course of the movie. But with that being said, I am not saying that "Convenience" was a bad movie, it just wasn't a traditional comedy movie, that's all. And I am sure that there is an audience out there for an offbeat comedy such as this proved to be.
Sure, I was fairly entertained by "Convenience", but it wasn't an outstanding or memorable movie in my opinion. It was, perhaps, because the movie's comedy didn't fall into the scope of my sense of comedy. The lack of comedy and the slow narrative sort of didn't tickle me in the right places.
The acting performances in "Convenience" are good. And it was quite a surprise to see the likes of Anthony Head, Verne Troyer and Tony Way showing up in the movie.
"Convenience" is not a movie that will grace my screen a second time.
My rating of director Keri Collins's 2013 movie "Convenience" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.
