Jonathan Demme's first feature film since Rachel Getting Married (2008).

The film is a Henrik Ibsen play about with the relationship between an older architect and a younger woman, and the "The Master Builder" originally was published in 1892 and premiered in 1893 at the Lessing Theatre in Berlin, Germany.

Andre Gregory, who played Knut, said he decided to participate in the film because of his age and the redemption theme. He said Lisa Joyce's performance was "astounding" and hoped she would flourish in her acting career.

The project was also known as Fear of Falling, Master Builder, and The Wally and André Shoot Ibsen.
