Nach den Gotham Awards Anfang Dezember wird Angelina Jolie auch beim Palm Springs International Film Festival einen Monat später für ihre Hauptrolle in Pablo Larrains Maria-Callas-Biopic „Maria“ (hier unsere Spot-Besprechung) geehrt.

Wie das Festival jetzt bekannt gab, erhält sie dort am 3. Januar den Desert Palm Achievement Award.

Ya se ha publicado el primer tráiler y póster de María, la película del director Pablo Larraín (El conde) y el guionista Steven Knight, creador de Peaky Blinders.

María narra los últimos días de vida de la legendaria soprano María Callas en el París de los años setenta, cuando se retira a la capital francesa tras una vida glamurosa y tumultuosa en el ojo público.

La película está protagonizada por Angelina Jolie (El sustituto), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Memoir of a Snail), Alba Rohrwacher (Yo soy el amor), Pierfrancesco Favino (El conde de Montecristo) y Valeria Golino (Retrato de una mujer en llamas).

Making good on a recent slew of awards at Venice for Chilean films, Chile will be the Venice Production Bridge’s Focus Country in 2025.

The announcement will be made Thursday from the Venice Film Festival by Carolina Arredondo, Chile’s Minister of Culture, Arts, and Heritage as Chilean director Pablo Larraín’s “María,” starring Angelina Jolie as the legendary opera singer Maria Callas, world premieres on Venice’s Lido.

“This is a significant achievement for our creators, who have found in Venice a crucial platform to internationalize their projects,” Arredondo underscored. “Being the Focus Country will allow us to strengthen Chile’s audiovisual industry and attract new opportunities for co-production and global promotion.”

Netflix Argentina executives have been promoting the upcoming slate featuring new work from Ricardo Darin, Santiago Mitre, and Juan José Campanella including series adaptations of two of the most iconic graphic novels and comic strips in Latin America.

Leading the new productions at the Made In Argentina showcase unveiled to industry members in Buenos Aires on Monday night was 27 Nights (27 Noches), Daniel Hendler’s adaptation of the family drama novel by Natalia Zito inspired by actual events.

Mitre, who wrote and directed the 2023 Oscar-nominated Argentina, 1985, will serve as producer on 27 Nights.

Mario finally spoke her peace and chided Sydney for her behavior as the audience–who were Team Maria– cheered from the sidelines.

Interestingly, though, the Canadian beauty wanted to put the drama behind her, and she eventually made up with Sydney and a tearful Lea Cayanan.

Well-established Italian producers Mario Gianani and Lorenzo Mieli — who left their Fremantle-owned banners, Wildside and The Apartment, respectively, earlier this year — are returning to the growing TV and film powerhouse with their new scripted outfit.

The duo — who co-founded “The Young Pope” and “My Brilliant Friend” production house Wildside in 2009 before Mieli exited to set up The Apartment, which was behind the recent hit “Priscilla” — are yet to reveal details of their new company. But the pair have now signed a co-production deal with Fremantle that will see them collaborate on several projects.

Among those in production and post-production from the two producers are Paolo Sorrentino’s latest film, Kirill Serebrennikov’s “Limonov -The Ballad,” “Queer” by Luca Guadagnino starring Daniel Craig, the new film by Gabriele Mainetti, “Maria” by Pablo Larraín starring Angelina Jolie, plus the TV series “M. The Son of the Century” by Joe Wright and “Il Mostro” by Stefano Sollima.

The party continues with Enrique Iglesias, Pitbull and Ricky Martin.

With a combined five Grammys, 10 Latin Grammys and over 77 million Spotify listeners, it’s no surprise that all initial tour dates have sold out, leading to extended dates into 2024.

After their final scheduled date this year in Vancouver, they will take a break before going back onstage on January 31, 2024, and are scheduled to perform their final extended show on March 10 in Tampa, Florida.

Though this is not the first time Iglesias has worked with his two co-headliners, this is the first time all three share the stage.

On Saturday, the Trilogy Tour kicked off at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., with Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin performing for their excited fans. On Tuesday, they traveled north to Toronto where they continued to wow audiences.

The trio of superstars first announced their tour back in May on social media.

“I’m going on tour with my friends [Pitbull] and [Ricky Martin]!” Iglesias wrote in his announcement.

“It’s happening! We are going to hit the road!” Martin announced.” This is going to be one crazy night.”

“Excited to make history this fall with [Enrique Iglesias] and [Ricky Martin],” Pitbull wrote.

The tour will be making stops in 19 cities, including major cities like New York City, Miami, Houston and Las Vegas. They are scheduled to end their tour in Vancouver, B.C., on December 10.

Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin are heating up the stage on the opening night of their Trilogy Tour!

The global superstars brought their arena run to Capital One Arena on Saturday night (October 14) in Washington D.C.

The show is the first time the trio shared the stage, featured three unique headlining sets from each icon, starting with Pitbull delivering hits like “Time of Our Lives” and “Give Me Everything.”

Enrique kept the party going with smashes like “Bailando” and “El Perdón,” while Ricky followed with his own global hits, including “Vente Pa’ Ca,” “La Mordidita” and “Maria.”

The 25-city tour continues with two nights in Toronto at Scotiabank Arena before hitting cities like Boston, New York, Chicago, Detroit, Miami, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles and more before wrapping up at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena on December 11.
