It's speculated that this movie will be based on the true haunting of the Smurl family, which occurred in 1986
Taissa Farmiga (Sister Irene) and Vera Farmiga (Lorraine Warren) are sisters in real life. They might be confused for being mother and daughter because of their age difference (21 years), but they are siblings.
Slated to be the last movie of the Conjuring series with Ed and Lorraine Warren. Other movies within the Conjuring universe may still occur without the Warrens.
The fictional character, Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga), was 22 during the events of The Nun (2018), which took place in 1952. If the theorized date for this film, 1986, is accurate, then Sister Irene would be 56 during the events of this film (assuming her part doesn't take place in flashbacks). Lorraine Warren was born in 1927, making her 59 in 1986. Vera Farmiga, who plays Lorraine, is 51 as of this writing (October 2024).
