A tense thriller

This segment, plus a next season Part 2, plays more like a feature film than just a TV installment, as the crew go on a dangerous rescue mission fighting the lizard monsters, the Gorn.

Just to make it more difficult, the Federation is afraid of an all-out war against the Gorn, so Pike and his crew cannot go on the offensive, even though treasured lovers are among the captives: both Pike's and Spike's true loves!

This is a very exciting as well as emotional episode, and there are strong horror and terror elements, lifted from Sir Ridley's original "Alien" film. Our heroes demonstrate admirable ingenuity and the series introduces young Scotty, played by Martin Quinn.
