What a sweet movie this was! Being a music theatre buff, I got curious to see this movie because it features one of my favorite Korean actors, Kim Rae Won. It was good to see him playing a part in a musical film as a director-pianist-composer, far from his usual serious dramas. Sadly, racism was emphasized at the end and, thank goodness, talent overrode many of those prejudices. The young boy, actor Ji Dae Han, who played the half-Filipino, was amazing! His voice made me cry every time he sang. And what a nice little dancer he is, too! Ballet is not easy and I was happy to see his "training" in slow progression. The other boys featured in the show were professional music theatre actors who could dance, act, and sing. A pure triple threat! The story was simple. It all took place in a talent show.
Note: I wish the producers could've used Ji Dae Han's REAL heritage, a Korean-Sri Lankan...instead of a Filipino. He was CLEARLY not Malay in features. I am Filipina. I should know.
