I am not "blinded by nostalgia" nor I think "all modern anime is bad".
But Sage is a bad reviewer.
His Grave of the Fireflies is completely dishonest and is based in rumors. He provides zero sources about how Isao Takahata wanted to "guilt-trip" the Japanese youth of the 80s. He just read that fake data somewhere on the internet, probably made up by someone from the United States,
Basing reviews in "urban legends" is just bad criticism.

Bennett White is not a good anime reviewer. Not only does he repeatedly get most of his facts in his reviews completely wrong and never bothers to do enough research on the anime titles he reviews, but his humor is extremely juvenile and obnoxious, consisting little more than just fart humor and smug sarcasm, all of which only makes his arrogant, holier than thou attitude (itself making his videos also difficult to sit through) come off as extremely pretentious.
And now he barely even bother to review anime instead just doing documentaries on the development history of said titles, probably because he realized that actually reviewing things isn't something he is good at, even if he won't admit it because of his ego.
Overall, the man just comes across as a condescending ponce who loves the sound of his own voice, even though the fact he constantly gets his facts wrong (as mentioned above), a long with his very childish sense of humor, just shows that he isn't anywhere near as smart or as talented as he wants to convince others, or himself for that matter, that he is. Avoid his videos.

Sage is nitpicky for a reason and a good one. He wants to stop nostalgia-blind anime fans from saying all modern anime is bad and wants them to know even classic anime has their flaws as well. While his jokes can get bland. He does have good jokes and he makes good reviews (not all of them are bad). He just wants the anime community to shape up and stop acting like blind fanboys that over-obsess on what they like and hate.
Internet critic Bennett "the Sage" White has been reviewing anime since 2011. Close to 150 titles have been reviewed so far, and most are of the infamously bad 90's variety. He regularly makes fun of some obscure piece of trash, providing historical context and trivia where available, though it all comes from a place of fandom and the effort put into each review is clear, so that even when you disagree with his opinions, they're still entertaining to watch.
Unfortunately, the sound mixing is awful. The volume difference between Sage's voice and the anime being reviewed is often too much and worse, there are a few speaker-blowing moments thanks to his yelling. I also have no interest in his live-action sketches or characters, which are admittedly not used that often.
