One of the film's fund-raising perks was to allow people to pay to name a character in the film. Several characters were named in tribute to loved ones of the contributors, or as gifts to loved ones.
The majority of the cast are parents of young children and signed onto the film before the script had even been written. They were encouraged to offer up their insight and own experience and stories of the film.
The majority of the film's budget was raised through a crowd-sourcing campaign on IndieGoGo.com.
