The title, Go West, has an interesting pedigree; first used by Buster Keaton for a movie in 1925, then a movie by the Marx Bros in 1940 and also a hit song by The Village People in 1979, then covered by The Petshop Boys in 1992. Funny enough, the song is covered and features prominently in this film.
The line "potatoes: boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in your shoe" is a reference to the, very similar, famous line delivered by Sean Astin in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, who voices the narrator in this film.
Shot in 15 days, while post production took 8 months (November of 2022 to July of 2023).
Morgan Freeman was the original choice to narrate the film. He turned the role down, and the role instead went to Sean Astin.
Contrary to popular belief, this movie is not a sequel to the "Studio C" sketch "The Smiths".
