For any viewers looking for shows like Family Guy, there are some great adult cartoons available. By using and often subverting the animated family sitcom format popularized by The Simpsons, Family Guy's reign began in 1999, and, like its predecessor, appears to have no end in sight. In recent years, however, long-time archetypes of shows like Family Guy and The Simpsons have fluctuated in popularity and quality. This has allowed newcomers like Rick and Morty, Big Mouth, Bob's Burgers, and Invincible to contend for the after-dark TV throne.
Even loyal viewers of Family Guy's 22-plus seasons don't need to search that far in order to find an alternative to Seth MacFarlane's flagship cartoon. Shaped by audience expectations and the evolution of both animation and storytelling styles, modern adult cartoons rival live-action series and movies in just about any category. The entire staff of Annapurna Interactive, the video game division at Megan Ellison’s Annapurna, has resigned, according to a report from Bloomberg, citing multiple sources. A rep for the company did not comment on the story.
On Sept. 6, Annapurna said that its president, Nathan Gary, who also oversaw the company’s video game operations, would be exiting along with the co-heads of Annapurna’s indie gaming division, Deborah Mars and Nathan Vella. This week, Bloomberg reports that Gary and the staffers in the company’s gaming division, over two dozen in total, resigned after negotiations to spin off the video game division from the larger company fell through.
Hector Sanchez, who helped found Annapurna Interactive, joined the company from Epic Games as the president of interactive and new media, and will now oversee the company’s gaming efforts. Today’s report noted that the resignations caused concern among Annapurna’s game-making partners.

With the better part of a decade gone since it first got in the works, Robert Kirkman offers a disappointing update on the live-action Invincible movie. Well before Kirkman teamed with Simon Racioppa and Prime Video for the hit animated show, the comic book creator was first working with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to develop a live-action movie based on his graphic novel series. Even amidst the show's success, Kirkman has frequently assured that the live-action Invincible movie was still in the works, though indicated a desire to get it right has led to its slow progress.
During a recent interview with The Direct at San Diego Comic-Con, Kirkman was asked for an update on the live-action Invincible movie. The comic book creator reaffirmed that the movie is still in the pipeline, though indicated that "it's probably going to be in development for a while longer", even hinting that...

Star Trek: Section 31 with Sam Richardson offers a different take on the franchise. Richardson is a lifelong Star Trek fan. Academy Award-winner Michelle Yeoh leads the cast in Paramount+'s first Star Trek streaming movie.

Norway really saw Seth Rogen make the most unlikely and inappropriate movie-turned-series with Sausage Party and said, “Hold my lutefisk.”

As such, Sausage Party: Foodtopia opened with a second enormous food orgy that has many critics and viewers wondering exactly where the series can go from here on its quest to make the most upsetting cartoon porn out of Pixar-esque animation.

The world of adult animation is getting another serving of raunchy humor as “Sausage Party: Foodtopia,” the sequel series to the 2016 hit film “Sausage Party,” arrives on Amazon Prime Video. Creator and star Seth Rogen, along with returning cast members Kristen Wiig and Sam Richardson, have been dishing out behind-the-scenes details that shed light on the creative process and challenges of bringing this unconventional comedy to life.
The new eight-part series continues the story of sentient supermarket items in a world where humans have gone extinct. Seth Rogen used “real sex noises” for ‘Sausage Party’s big climax scene. The 42-year-old comedian - who wrote and starred in the 2016 adult animated movie - revealed he shocked the production team after he went into the booth and got a bit too carried away recording his moans for the movie’s mass-sex scene.Speaking to CinemaBlend, he said: “I’ll tell you what. Upon its release in 2016, Seth Rogen’s Sausage Party took the world by storm as it was the first rated-r CG animated feature. But while making this film was a challenge following its graphic nature, the creators have doubled down on this aspect with Sausage Party: Foodtopia.
While the film was full of s-xual innuendos, which concludes with a full-blown o-gy, involving groceries, the sequel takes the crown when it comes to the most perverted scenes so far.

I’ll never forget the first time I saw Sausage Party. I loved every crude minute of that animated comedy. Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Michael Cera, and crew took food to a whole new level. And now, you may have caught some of the eight episode event, Sausage Party: Foodtopia. Frankly, I dig the series more than the film! I love the additional cast that includes Edward Norton and the amazing Sam Richardson. Much like the movie, the series is crude, rude, and yet it’s suprisingly sweet.
Seth Rogen is the best. I love talking to this fine gentleman. And I feel the same about the incredible Kristen Wiig and Sam Richardson. All three are incredibly kind, and so damn funny. I was really happy to sit down with the three in-person. But where to begin? Well, I thought it would be fun to get right to it to the conversation.

The first season of Seth Rogan’s bawdy food comedy Sausage Party: Foodtopia concluded on an interesting cliffhanger, strongly hinting at the possibility of a continuation in the near future. As a sequel to the first Sausage Party movie, the miniseries did a decent job of expanding the food lore by drawing real-world allusions. There are a number of ways to explore the narrative further, which includes key plot points not only from the recently concluded series but from the original movie as well.

Seth Rogen's divisive film Sausage Party now has a sequel, a TV series titled Sausage Party: Foodtopia, streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Sausage Party made $141.3 million on a $19 million budget, sparking controversy with its raunchy humor and Pixar-quality animation. Fans of the original movie can expect the same type of humor and animation in Foodtopia, with many returning cast members and a post-revolution storyline.
Seth Rogen has made a lot of movies throughout his time in Hollywood, but one of his most divisive comedy movies has just gotten a sequel, eight years after its original release in 2016. Seth Rogen has had a prolific career in film and TV, with him being most well-known for his live-action comedy movies like Pineapple Express and This Is The End. However, Seth Rogen has also had a prolific voice acting career, with his most well-known voice role being in this infamously controversial movie.

The food is here to rule again as the Sausage Party franchise returns, this time with an eight-episode miniseries titled Sausage Party: Foodtopia. The continuation series premieres eight years after the release of Sausage Party, which saw the food overthrow the tyrannical human customers from Shopwell’s department store under the leadership of sausage duo Frank and Barry and hotdog bun Brenda. As the sequel miniseries, Sausage Party: Foodtopia focuses on the world-building of the titular food world, drawing parallels to human civilization and social structure. The comedic element feels much more restrained in this installment; instead, the tone feels much more grim and serious than its predecessor. It should be mentioned that, despite following the aftermath of the first movie, the series doesn’t address the dimension-hopping that was teased in the finale of the previous season and instead builds on its own separate storyline.

The animated "Sausage Party" was not only one of the funniest movies of 2016, but it was easily one of the most graphic comedies that has ever hit the big screen. Culminating in an all-out war between sentient food and humans, the movie ends with a celebratory orgy with groceries of all kinds just going to town on each other in every imaginable way. If they were human, it would be a porno movie, but it's ever so slightly more innocent when it's everyday food having all kinds of sex. But any modicum of innocence there might be goes completely out of the window in the recently released Prime Video animated series "Sausage Party: Foodtopia."
While the series has the gnarly violence and graphic sexual acts that made the "Sausage Party" so gross and funny, "Foodtopia" takes things to another level. Early on in the series, the foods take a human...

Of all the entertainment franchises that bookend America’s twin pre-Trump eras, “Sausage Party” may be the strangest. When the original film was released in the summer of 2016, the culture was still throwing cash at the alternately shocking and sweet shenanigans of Seth Rogen’s budding bro-euvre. Sandwiched neatly between “Neighbors” (a good movie) and “Neighbors 2” (a great film), the R-rated animated comedy about anthropomorphized edibles fighting to escape their deep-fried fates felt like an innocent indulgence; a bawdy comedy of the “I can’t believe this really exists” variety that was made all the more endearing by its crude jokes and cruder animation. Plus, seeded among the mountain of puns and literal food-fucking was a religious allegory that gave the big-screen adventure enough of an existential piquancy to keep it from tasting like total junk food. (IndieWire’s David Ehrlich described it as “a feature-length Sunday school lesson for budding atheists.

Do young people remember “Sausage Party”? The movie about the hot dog that really wanted to find his place in a bun? While it may not feel that old to viewers of a certain age, the comedy about sentient food discovering the truth about what happens when they leave the grocery store is already eight years old, a lifetime in pop culture. And there are elements of it that feel even older, a product of a pre-covid time when comedies aimed more directly at adults were more common.

If Pixar’s tendency to emoting any inanimate object seems wild to you, wait till you get to see how the craziness can truly be amplified as the trio of Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Jonah Hill make the bonkers decision to not only personify but even sexualize foods in their outlandish R-rated animated movie, Sausage Party (2016), to make some pretty on-point commentary about real-world situations. The 2024 animated comedy Sausage Party took viewers by surprise with its audacious premise: a secret world where the food in our grocery stores lives, breathes, and has relationships, all while anxiously awaiting the day they’ll be “chosen” and leave the store. Of course, the sausages, bread, and other foods quickly discover that getting chosen means facing a grisly fate rather than paradise. The film was a bona fide hit, using humor both raunchy and clever to skewer society’s values and mores.
Fast forward a few years, and this unlikeliest of franchises has gotten another seat at the table in the form of Amazon Prime’s new series Sausage Party: Foodtopia. Picking up where the movie left off, it brings back the same starry voice cast as our food friends try to form a functioning society in the aftermath of their grocery store revolution. It’s anarchy, puns, and...

Say what you will about Sausage Party, but if you’ve ever wanted to watch a piece of anthropomorphic food call another piece of anthropomorphic food the c-word, or see the denizens of a supermarket aisle engaged in a protracted, graphic orgy, the animated hit is an irreplaceable part of the cinematic canon, putting the “whore” in “hors d’oeuvres,” as it were.
I’m not sure if even the most devoted of Sausage Party fans would say that the comedy had enough material to fill its 88-minute running time (the aforementioned orgy takes up roughly the last third of the film, or maybe it just feels like it does). But are there between 5 and 10 good and clever minutes? Yes, I would argue with some trepidation lest somebody come at me with a stopwatch, there are.
With similar trepidation, I’m prepared to say that there are between 5 and 10 good...

Warning: Contains spoilers for the 2016 feature film Sausage Party.
There’s a pop-culture trope all of us have seen at least once: A high school English teacher wants to get a rough or rowdy class on their side, so when it’s time to teach poetry, they recite it to a hip-hop beat. (Doing so while seated backwards on their chair: optional but highly recommended.) I wonder if the creators of Sausage Party: Foodtopia had this trope in mind while developing this show; it can feel like it’s for all the teachers of civics and American history who wished they could sneak their students Howard Zinn inside some cartoon pornography.
What we must now term the Sausage Party franchise began with the 2016 feature film. At a supermarket called Shopwell’s, the greatest dream of all the anthropomorphic foods is to be “chosen” (purchased) by a “god” (human customer) and...
