The 45th Annual NAACP Image Awards went off without a hitch earlier this evening (February 22) with "12 Years a Slave" continuing to make waves snagging the biggest prize of the night.
Before her film won Outstanding Motion Picture, the gorgeous Lupita Nyong'o added another piece of hardware to her already impressive collection taking home a trophy for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, while Kerry Washington snagged up her second Image Award with a win for Best Actress in a Dramatic Series. Kerry's show "Scandal" also won Outstanding Drama Series.
In addition, the hilarious Kevin Hart took home Entertainer of the Year, while Oprah Winfrey paid tribute to the late Nelson Mandela with a touching speech and musical dedication.
"He was everything we have all have heard and more. He was humble and he was unscathed by any kind of bitterness after all that we know he's been through," Winfrey said.

We've got to give the big TV people a slap on the back this week, because there's some awesome shows making their way onto our boxes - we're talking major hitters like Doctor Who and The Voice, beloved comedies like New Girl and 90 minutes of Beyoncé brilliance in Life Is But a Dream.
There's so much good stuff about that we'd be remiss if we didn't also quickly mention the premiere of Jj Abrams's Revolution (Friday, March 29 at 9pm on Sky1) and ITV2's Plebs (Monday, March 25 at 10pm), which is basically The Inbetweeners in Ancient Rome with ultimate laaaad Danny Dyer as a gladiator. Prep yourself for more impromptu singalongs and douchebag jar moments, as Zooey Deschanel's New Girl (and that so-irritatingly-chirpy-it's-kind-of-amazing theme tune) makes its long-awaited return to the UK this week.

Beyoncé Knowles' self-directed HBO documentary special, Beyoncé: Life Is But A Dream, aired on Saturday, February 16, 2013, and it ended up being a huge draw for the network, attracting 1.8 million viewers during its initial 9pm broadcast. The network says via press release that it's the largest audience for an HBO documentary since 2004, when Nielsen changed the way it measures viewership for HBO. And what feature documentary did it kick out of the number 1 spot? Spike Lee's 2006 mini-series When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts, which pulled in 1.7 million viewers. Multi-hyphenate Beyoncé Knowles' self-directed HBO documentary special, Beyoncé: Life Is But A Dream, aired on Saturday, February 16, 2013. I've been busy with the New Voices In Black Cinema Festival (which I'm the co-curator of) here in Brooklyn, NY, since Friday, so I haven't watched much TV in the last 3 days. I certainly didn't watch Ms Knowles' film on Saturday night, and, to be frank, it's not exactly high on my to-see list. Maybe I'll watch it some time down the road. Maybe not. But if you did watch it, what did you think? Not only does she obviously *star* in it, she also directed it, and was the film's executive...

London, Feb. 1: Beyonce, who lost her first baby with husband Jay-z in a miscarriage two years back, has now discussed the sad event herself in a new documentary.
In 'Life Is But A Dream,' the 31-year-old singer said that she thought the pregnancy was going well thanks to a healthy check up, the Mirror reported.
She said in the HBO documentary that during the pregnancy she felt the heartbeat of her baby, which was the most beautiful music that she had ever heard in her life.
The singer asserted that she had already started planning motherhood and had been dreaming about what it would be like.
She said that she picked out names and envisioned what her child would look like. She added that she was feeling very.

Beyonce spoke to the media at a Super Bowl press conference Thursday afternoon, just days before she'll take perhaps the nation's biggest stage during the game's halftime show. But she started the show her way: By singing the national anthem, live.
"Any questions?" she asked after completing the impressive performance.
"I am a perfectionist," she explained when asked about the inaugural performance, explaining that she chose to use "a backing track" due to a lack of sound check and the high stakes surrounding the event. "I'm very proud of my performance," she added.
She'll be ready come Sunday, though. "I will absolutely be singing live," she said of the Super Bowl performance. "I am well-rehearsed. This is what I was born to do."
The press conference came with a heavy fog of anticipation, stemming in large part from the singer's performance of the national anthem at Barack Obama's second inauguration on Jan.

Beyoncé's February cover interview in GQ was ostensibly about "her big post-baby comeback" -- but some of her most revealing comments about life after pregnancy have only just been published.
In outtakes from the interview published on GQ.com, the singer (whose performance of the national anthem -- lip-synced or not -- wowed the world on Monday) elaborates on the emotional impact of giving birth to now 1-year-old Blue Ivy.
The star says giving birth was "the first time [she] truly let go and surrendered," going on to discuss the "sensuality" and increased self-confidence she's found in new motherhood:
"Giving birth made me realize the power of being a woman. I have so much more substance in my life. And expressing that excitement and that sensuality and the connection I have with my husband -- I'm a lot more comfortable with that now. I actually feel like my child introduced me to myself.

Having premiered "Crossfire Hurricane," Brett Morgen's documentary on the Rolling Stones, earlier this month, HBO announced today that it's producing another authorized musical doc in the new year, this time about Beyoncé, by Beyoncé. The multiple Grammy-winner will make her feature directorial debut with the apparently yet-untitled autobiographical project, which is slated to debut on February 16th, 2013. The film will be a mix of performance and private footage that will offer, in the words of the network's president of programming Michael Lombardo, a look at "Beyoncé the person... a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman." Beyoncé said that "Some of my favorite shows are on HBO, so I am excited that my film will be part of its bold programming. This film was so personal to me, it had to have the right home."
