Rickerl is not just another movie about the typical Vienna "loser", because it benefits from a combination of excellent storytelling (it has quite some autobiographical background), a high level of detail, powerful directing and is blessed with a wonderful cast, where every character is really so authentic, that it almost hurts when you watch them living their daily, sometimes miserable lives. Voodoo Juergens shows a terrific performance, but the highlight in terms of casting is definitely Ben Winkler as Rickerl's son Dominik!

It definitely helps when you know the songs of Voodoo Juergens and are from Vienna/have a connection to it, but even if not, you will probably deeply appreciate the morbid character of this movie. Highly recommended!!
