Dr. Riddhima Gupta was originally portrayed by actress Shilpa Anand. In 2008, she quit the show owing to the differences between the production houses. But in June 2010, she returned due to fan demands and played a different character, Dr. Shilpa Malhotra. Later, her track with Karan Singh Grover was abruptly cut short due to internal differences among actors.
