It's a Terry Gilliam cartoon created for a precursor of MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS called DO NOT ADJUST YOUR TELEVISION SET. Tasked with coming up for animation for the Christmas show, Gilliam looked at the British Museum's collection of Victorian Christmas cards, and produced the same sort of animation that he would use to separate Monty Python sketches. In retrospect it is very funny. At the time, it was completely novel.
