Eight projects have been pitched to international festival directors, sales agents, distributors and producers during the Coming Soon night at TorinoFilmLab’s (Tfl) 2021 Meeting Event this week.

The films are all at the final stages of production and have either been developed through one of the TorinoFilmLab’s programmes or been the recipients of one of Tfl’s awards.

The event was held in-person at the Scuola Holden school in Turin.

I have always wondered why, with all the horror festivals in La, there isn't a dedicated science fiction film festival in the city. Well, I now have to wonder no longer, because on August 9th I attended a cool science fiction film fest, The Galactic Film Festival, a presentation of The Academy of Film Festivals, the same institution that brought us last year's horror oriented Rip Film Festival.

For the first time ever, an incredible ballet of bloodshed will commence on screen.

The story is simple on the surface with a sinister subplot that will not be revealed to the naked eye as twelve innocent souls fall prey to the sentimental slaughter. Jared Masters made it up.. Although the story will unfold against a backdrop of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake as in Black Swan by Darren Aronofsky, the film just might take on more of a tone similar to Dario Argento's Susperia, while delicate dancers perform their last.

Ballerina Massacre Aka Ballet of Blood is in its early stage of pre-production and is scheduled to film this year. Densely poetic and tribal, the film will feature explicit gore, rumored to be a thirty-gallon picture (Slink, also directed by Masters, used five gallons).

Fatal Pictures has unveiled a Kickstarter campaign for their final short film Heir. The film promises to be gory, horrific and monstrous and will showcase practical FX.

Produced by Fatal Pictures in association with Red Sneakers Media, "Heir" is the final entry in their "Box Cutter Trilogy", a trio of linked shorts each representing “different theories on the origin and operation of sociopaths,” and is looking to raise $17,000.

I gave Jared Lee Masters’ film Slink a rave review over at Film Radar earlier this year. That film is a tight little thriller that manages to be funny, sexy, and creepy all at the same time. After watching Teacher’s Day, I can safely say that I am a fan of Jared Lee Master’s work. But, I do like Slink a little better.

"Teacher’s Day" is Jared Lee Masters’ take on the slasher. After a teacher is fired for connecting with one of his female students on Facebook, he murders the dean, and then goes to the house of the female student, where there is a sleepover party taking place. The rest of the film is a kind of a take on Slumber Party Massacre, where the young women are killed off one by one by the angry teacher.

Jared Masters was accompanied by his latest discovery, dream date Danielle Stavin, who has no acting experience but nevertheless will star as Zeb, the hot drummer, in his new Paranormal all-girl band thriller Deadly Punkettes. Masters recognizes real talent in choosing D'Lannie Brown to fill the bill, which might also feature some of the rising pop star's hit tracks. She's Photogenic's definition, and a synonym of grace. D'Lannie is also the star of the hit new reality show Raising Fame. Skylar Ripp was was also cast because she is dynamic and marvelous on and off screen. Slink reminds me of the type of nasty horror film you’ll find on television late one night, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing at all– I found some of my favourite horror films of all time on TV late and certainly more than a few that were great fun to watch.

Admittedly, they were often very low budget and very, very nasty but at the same time, they often sizzled along with a certain special charm and magic to the picture that I found irresistible.

Slink brought to mind fond memories of these late night horrors because it’s so madcap itself, chugging along in such a lurid and energetic way that makes it hard to look away from the utter craziness that’s going on the screen.
