This week on Carspotting, Carlos picks up a 1968 Ford Mustang convertible and is looking forward to a fairly straightforward turnaround. However, bringing back classic American muscle cars to their former glory is never an easy task and finding a buyer can be even trickier. So it proves with the Mustang and the team soon run into a few problems, not least of which is that the buyer is after a Shelby-tribute number. The 1968 Mustang saw a few changes including concave taillights, chrome side ornamentation, shoulder seat belts and square rear-view mirrors. There was also a drag version that...read more...

Sandwiched between Beyond Good & Evil 2 and Starlink: Battle for Atlas – a new toys-to-life actioner – on Ubisoft’s E3 2017 docket was Far Cry 5, the open-world sequel set within the fictional realm of Hope Country, Montana.
Pegged for a release in February 2018, Far Cry 5 is the follow-up to last year’s prehistoric Primal, and finds players fighting to liberate a small backwoods town from a cult of religious zealots. So far, so Far Cry. Building on the momentum from last month’s original reveal, E3 2017 brings with it an extended gameplay demo for Ubisoft’s sequel, which introduces Grace Armstrong, a hardboiled sniper, and Nick Rye, a maverick pilot with enough firepower to tear up the countryside from the skies. There’s also Boomer, an angry dog that can be unleashed upon your enemies.
Yes, you’ll be able to enlist specialized animals to help fight for the resistance in Far Cry...

Finally after the various teaser trailers that were drip fed to us over the past week we finally have our first proper look at Far Cry 5 in the announcement trailer above.
Relocating the action a little closer to home in the fictional Hope County, Montana, players will take on the role of a new junior deputy whose arrival accelerates a years-long silent coup by a fanatical doomsday cult called the Project at Eden’s Gate. With the county under their control you’ll join forces with residents to form the Resistance as you do whatever it takes to disrupt their plans and liberate the community.
All sorts of toys will be available including planes for aerial dogfights plus iconic American muscle cars, big rigs, ATVs and boats for those who prefer their battles at a lower altitude. A wide array of weapons will also be at hand ranging from guns...

Sticking to the date provided earlier this week, Ubisoft has released the reveal trailer for Fay Cry 5, confirming that the sequel will be arriving on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on February 27, 2018. We’ve still got a long wait ahead of us before Hope County welcomes us through its gates, then, but no matter, there’s plenty of tantalizing new details provided with today’s info dump for us to sift through and digest.
Top of that list is confirmation that Far Cry 5‘s campaign will be playable entirely in co-op with one other player, meaning you won’t have to go it alone as you attempt to weed out a fanatical doomsday cult that’s taken up residence in the idyllic countryside setting. You can, of course, still opt to go down the lone wolf route, but the introduction of co-op will, for a lot of people, make this...

The Forever War
Finaly The Next Issue!!! I have been looking forward to this book for some time, again a story based on the book by Joe Haldeman. We find our two main characters Potter and William stuck on an Earth that they do not understand. After being gone so long with the war with the Taurans, they do not have much of a choice to decide how to live their lives out. They go back to the military life that they both hated so much, not knowing how to deal with changes on Earth and only understanding the military life. In this chapter both get injured and later get promoted in the story. They only have each other in more or less, in world that has moved on without them. If you have read the last few post about this story, time is a huge factor in this storyline.

Long before Dominic Toretto and his crew became globe-trotting superheroes, they might have been the neighbors of the Alvarez family, known as “low-riders” who restore gorgeous American muscle cars, including the star of their garage: father Miguel’s gorgeous 69’ Chevy Impala named Green Poison. Not unlike the Fast & Furious saga, family is at the center of Lowriders, a drama of surprisingly grounded insight from director Ricardo de Montreuil.
The story follows the coming of age of Danny (Gabriel Chavarria), a young Mexican-American teen who’d rather paint street art than murals on his father Miguel’s (Demián Bichir) lowriders. Miguel and his sons rarely see eye to eye, and complicating matters is the return of brother Francisco, aka Ghost (Theo Rossi), fresh out of jail for grand theft auto. Competing in his father’s footsteps, he steals cars to build his own dream Impala.

In fact, Vr titles wouldn't be my only appointments of the day. Instead, I had dates with the Playstation Motor Speedway of Gt Sport, Indie company U&I Entertainment, Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom, and the treacherous waters in Sea of Thieves!

If there's one thing you've got to give to the American film and TV industry, it's that they're damn good at opening sequences, and Jeff Nichols' latest sci-fi thriller Midnight Special is no exception. Reuniting once again with frequent collaborator Michael Shannon, this writer-director's film features a cut-throat sharpness, and goes from 0-60 like a classic American muscle car. Somewhat appropriately, Midnight Special opens darkly and with a certain elusiveness. Before we see anything, we hear a Texan home insurance infomercial playing over the opening credits, and with a remarkable succinctness this slips you into a sort of thigh-slapping, gun-touting Southern spirit of autonomy that floods the film and lingers there right up until the end. Moments later we enter a world of grubby motel chic, as we see two...

They often say those who can, do, and those who can’t, teach. In the blogosphere its often those who can make movies do, and those who can’t rip them to pieces online in reviews. So what happens when a blogger turns filmmaker and produces a movie? The Shelter. That’s what.
Written and directed by Arrow in the Head blogger John Fallon and starring Michael Paré (The Philadelphia Experiment, Streets of Fire), The Shelter tells the story of Thomas, a homeless man grieving his late wife. Ruined and desperate, he comes across a vast house with the lights on and an inviting open front door. But the next morning, the house will not let him leave. Destiny has brought Thomas to this place and now he must survive a very personal ordeal.

Two outings for The Toxic Avenger and a surprisingly good vampire movie feature in this month's Bottom Shelf...
The advent of high definition technology has ushered in an era of unsurpassed quality in terms of the home-cinema experience. With TVs now able to match filmmakers' original visions closer than ever, the path has been cleared for the true maverick masters of cinema to shine on the small screen. Which brings us to Troma Entertainment head honchos Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, whose final two Toxic Avenger sequelsmake their way onto Blu-ray this month.
Not by any stretch of the imagination a pair of essential HD releases (you could argue the grainy footage of any Troma film is best viewed on ancient VHS), The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation Of Toxie and Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV are what they are: both the best and worst of Kaufman...

John Falcon is mad. Imprisoned for 10 years, he's about to be paroled, but his prison sentence hasn't mellowed him one iota. If anything, it's made him a more fierce creature, the personification of fury, refusing to compromise on his core principle of life: "You owe, you pay." Smashing, bloody, rude, and often nude, American Muscle captures the rowdy spirit of 70s exploitation movies and transfers it wholesale to the present day, while also instilling a dose of rueful, personal nostalgia. Make no mistake, American Muscle is first and foremost a movie about an incredibly uber-macho, extremely violent criminal -- c'mon, he's named John Falcon! -- and the blood he sheds without remorse in his quest for vengeance. As embodied by the brawny Nick Principe,...

The team behind Starry Eyes, the forthcoming, throwback horror film, has released new poster art and stills. Helmed by directors Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch and produced by genre rockstar Travis Stevens (American Muscle, Jodorowsky's Dune, Cheap Thrills), Starry Eyes is a cautionary tale of nightmarish Hollywood backstabbing, success, and excess. It has played several prestigious genre festivals worldwide, including SXSW, Fantasia, and Sitges. Sarah (a brilliant Alexandra Essoe) is a struggling actress desperate for her chance at stardom. She'll do literally anything to join the cultish Hollywood elite ... even if it means doing some pretty nasty things to people and suffering through a full menu of body horror that would impress David Cronenberg. You can read Zach Gayne's SXSW review here. The film also stars Pat Healy, Amanda Fuller,...

Well Go USA has acquired all North American rights to Snowfort Pictures and Automatic Entertainment’s American Muscle.
Commercial and music video director Ravi Dhar’s arthouse action-thriller stars Nick Principe, Robin Sydney, Todd Farmer, John Fallon, Trent Haaga and Malice McMunn.
The story takes place in California’s Yucca Valley as an ex-con embarks on a mission of revenge against his brother.
John Fallon wrote the screenplay and Travis Stevens produced alongside Jeffrey Giles and Michael Lurie.
“We set out to make a different kind of action film; something beautiful and exciting,” said Snowfort’s Stevens. “We can’t think of a company better suited to bring Ravi Dhar’s unique vision to audiences than Well Go USA.”
Stevens brokered the deal with Well Go USA president and head of acquisitions Doris Pfardrescher.

If there’s something you must know about the man featured in the trailer for Ravi Dhar‘s American Muscle, it’s that he doesn’t care if he gets caught and he certainly doesn’t care if he goes back to jail. Now that that’s cleared up, we can move on to the epic blaze of hellfire he’s about to rain down upon these suckers. You see, John Falcon (Nick Principe) has been locked away for 10 years and he’s hankering for some revenge. What he did is unclear, but who cares? He’s got a Confederate flag decorated with guns, an endless line of ladies down to get down, more ammo than any man should ever have, and an insatiable need to kill every person responsible for putting him in prison. This all occurs within 24 hours of getting freed, too. It’s exploitation at it’s finest (or lowest) – less talking, more...

What do you get when you cross Oldboy with Grindhouse? Probably something along the lines of American Muscle. This violent epic of revenge comes to us from a screenplay written by JoBlo.com's very own John Fallon. The trailer and poster have now premiered and they are a sight to behold in their full Nsfw glory. American Muscle is an independent feature but doesn't look cheap at all. In fact, the special effects look pretty damn good as heads explode in a flurry of blood and bullets....

"He doesn't care if he gets caught... He doesn't care if he goes back to jail..." Holy shit this looks insane! If you're in the mood for some wild and crazy exploitation revenge, then stop here first. Snowfort Pictures has unveiled a promo/sales trailer and poster for Ravi Dhar's badass exploitation thriller American Muscle, starring Nick Principe as John Falcon - a man released from prison who goes on a 24 hour revenge binge to kill "every person who had a hand in sending him there." One description for American Muscle boasts: "This movie has more sex and exploding heads than a David Cronenberg dream." Ya, this looks f!&king nuts. Here's the first Nsfw trailer for Ravi Dhar's exploitation thriller American Muscle, from Twitch: John Falcon (Principe) did 10 years of hard time in prison. Now he's got 24 hours to get revenge on every person who had a hand in sending him there.

“The movie’s about a guy, who’s been in prison for 10 years, gets released, and over the next 24 hours kills every single person who had a hand in him going to jail,” movie producer and Snowfort Pictures founder Travis Stevens told EW earlier this year, talking about the new action-thriller American Muscle. “He’s just a shark moving straight forward — just chewing through everybody in front of him. l feel it’s my most personal film because it has everything that I love in the world: Naked tattooed chicks riding motorcycles with Uzis and a bad-ass guy who doesn’t really speak too much!

Hit makers Snowfort Pictures have been on a hot streak lately with Cheap Thrills, Big Ass Spider and Jodorowsky's Dune all hitting the festival circuit in the last year. Up next is Ravi Dhar's directorial debut American Muscle. Currently in post-production, one producer called the action-thriller a "contemporary exploitation thriller." Here's more: Starring genre vets Nick Principe, Robin Sydney, Todd Farmer, John Fallon, Trent Haaga and Malice McMunn and set against the desolate landscape of California's Yucca Valley, the film follows a recently paroled convict hell bent on revenge against those whom he holds responsible for his incarceration...including his own brother. The film is hitting the sales block at next month's American Film Market and we've got an Exclusive look at the very Nsfw...

Director Adam Wingard has received rave reviews for his R-rated, home invasion horror-comedy You’re Next, which screened at several film festivals over the past couple of years and will be released August 23. But his often gore-drenched creative sensibility — and twisted sense of humor — is not everyone’s cup of Darjeeling. In the spring of 2007, for instance, the then just the 24-year-old Wingard appeared on the premiere episode of Fox TV’s On The Lot, a much-hyped but now little-remembered, Steven Spielberg-produced filmmakers’ competition with the first prize of a million-dollar development deal at Dreamworks. As Wingard recalls, he...

One of the first things future Snowfort Pictures founder Travis Stevens did after arriving in Los Angeles was hit Tom Cruise in the head. “I moved to L.A. with a degree in filmmaking and I thought I would be hired to make films,” he recalls. “Within a couple of months I realized ‘No’. So I started doing work as an extra just to be on a set.” One of the movies Stevens worked on was 1996′s Cruise-starring Jerry Maguire. “There’s this scene where Tom Cruise gets out of a limo and there’s all these reporters,” continues Stevens.
