I am a huge fan of Mr. Kosik's series.
I have all the hardcover books on my shelf and have read the entire series several times. This is one of the best Polish book series of the 21st century. The source text was therefore extremely demanding and difficult to produce with a limited budget. And this small budget is very visible. What was done to this story is terrible - it was deprived of a lot of scenes needed to properly understand the story. The special effects are terrible. Taking shortcuts is terrible in this film. But...
...the actors try very hard to save it, and the director does his best to show the full beauty of this story. As a fan, I appreciate it very much, because it's nice that someone tried to make such a film in Poland.
I watched this movie for the first time right after it premiered, and now I've watched it for the second time. It's not the worst adaptation. This is simply an underfunded film that can only be fully understood by reading the book. What a pity.
