Fantasy Island and Lego Masters are moving from Fox’s summer schedule to in-season.
The low-cost drama and the Will Arnett-hosted unscripted series were previously set to launch on May 31. However, this morning with the reveal of Fox’s latest slate, the two shows are being pushed to later in the season.
“There’s some great moments where you start to see what you’ve got in the can and they came in so good,” Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier said, speaking on its pre-upfront call. “We’re so blessed to have such a hefty returning slate and great choices to make.”
Michael Thorn, President of Entertainment at Fox, added, “Fantasy Island is really a stand out for us and we’ve lined up some incredible guest stars for this season. It’s really fun and escapist and we can’t wait to have that back on our air.

HBO Max picked up “Julia” for a second season on Thursday, the same day its Season 1 finale dropped on the streamer. With that good news, fans of the Julia Child scripted series can rest assured they will be learning more about The French Chef herself (played by Sarah Lancashire) and the people who made her the icon she is in Season 2, including Judith Light’s Blanche Knopf.
And there will be plenty to uncover about Blanche, the publisher of Child’s best-selling “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” books, in particular. The finale episode, titled “Chocolate Soufflé,” revealed the powerful co-founder and leader of publishing house Knopf is going blind, and only her mentee Judith Jones (Fiona Glascott), who was editor for Child, as well as novelists like John Updike at Knopf, knows about the dire situation.

HBO Max will serve up its Julia Child drama series, Julia, this March.
The WarnerMedia streaming platform revealed during its TCA presentation on Tuesday that the starring Sarah Lancashire in the titular role will premiere March 31. Julia, whose pilot was written by Daniel Goldfarb and directed by Charles McDougall, is inspired by Child’s extraordinary life and her long-running television series, The French Chef, which pioneered the popular cooking-show genre. Through Julia and her singular can-do spirit, the series explores an evolving time in American history: the emergence of public television as a new social institution, feminism and the women’s movement, the nature of celebrity and America’s cultural growth. At its heart, the series is a portrait of a loving marriage with an evolving and complicated power dynamic.

The exhilarating, Bible-inspired, pitch-black comedy “Redemption of a Rogue” centers on a prodigal son returning to his rural Ireland hometown to seek redemption for his sins. Based on this ambitious, sardonic feature debut, writer-director Philip Doherty (who is also a playwright and theater director) scores as a promising talent, one who might be the spiritual heir of Anglo-Irish filmmaking brothers Martin and John Michael McDonagh or even the Coen brothers. Certainly, Doherty displays winning confidence, visual imagination and stylistic bravura as he elevates a witty but foul-mouthed village comedy into something more provocative and universal. And he orchestrates the whole confection as a sort of blues opera, with on-screen musical artists providing beguiling songs that comment on the action.

“If you’re going to run, do it now…” In the depths of a South American rainforest, an unusually frail-looking Jared Leto stands at the towering mouth of a sinister-looking cave, propped up by two walking sticks, his long, stringy hair draped over a green overcoat that swallows his frame. A small group of mercenaries look on nervously, edging back towards the helicopter behind them. He takes a large knife and draws it across his palm, before holding his hand up towards the hi-tech cage positioned in front of him. Something is stirring from within the darkness. But there’s a problem…
“The blood didn’t come out,” Leto says, looking off to the side. “Wanna go again?”
On any other production, that little practical-fx slip-up might have been ripe for the post-release blooper reel. But while Leto briefly breaks character to acknowledge the error, there’s no corpsing here – he remains focused,...

The 2014 French drama La Famille Bélier centered on a young woman growing up in a family with deaf parents, but for the most part the filmmakers cast hearing actors to play the deaf roles. Writer-director Siân Heder was determined not to take that same approach when she set about making Coda, her award-winning adaptation of the French film, and thus began her collaboration with actress Marlee Matlin. Heder cast the Oscar winner as mom Jackie Rossi, along with fellow deaf actors Troy Kotsur as husband Frank, and Daniel Durant as son Leo, while hearing actress Emilia Jones plays Ruby Rossi, the titular ‘Coda’—an acronym for Child of Deaf Adults.
In conversation with Matt Carey, Heder and Matlin discuss how they set about telling an authentic and moving story in a film that sold in a record-breaking deal out of Sundance.
Deadline: Siân, describe your thought process as you went about casting the film.

This review contains spoilers for Marvel’s What If…? episode 7.
In episode 7 of Marvel’s What If…?, ‘What If… Thor Were an Only Child?’, we get to find out what would have happened if Odin had decided to return the wee babby Loki to his Frost Giant family instead of keeping him, and Thor had grown up believing he was an only child. I’m phrasing it that way because, y’know, Hela still exists. Lest we forget her majesty.
It’s a fun, fluffy episode that ends with a terrific cliffhanger that seems to set up the finale of this consistently entertaining animated series, and gives us plenty to talk about until it arrives. I’m sure they’ll find a way to kill Tony Stark at least one more time before it does.

Less than three months after Burden of Truth‘s cancellation, Kristin Kreuk has secured her next TV gig — a role in Amazon Prime’s Jack Reacher series (opposite her former Smallville co-star Alan Ritchson!).
In Lee Child’s best-selling Jack Reacher novels, the towering, hulking title character (played here by Ritchson) is a former military policeman who now roams the United States taking odd jobs. Season 1 of the Amazon series — which will be titled, simply, Reacher — will be based on the first book, 1997’s Killing Floor.

All aboard the Infinity Train!
Infinity train has run four brilliant seasons, referred to as books, during its run on Cartoon Network and HBO Max.
An animated anthology series created by Owen Dennis, Infinity Train follows the train's unsuspecting passengers as they deal with personal issues.
Infinity train has had a bumpy ride.
Originating as an eight-minute short, Infinity Train's path to becoming an entire series wasn't easy.
As of this writing, the Youtube short has garnered over five million views since its debut in 2016.
It took about two years for Cartoon Network to give the show the Green Light, and when they did, Infinity Train Season 1 finally got made a year later.
Premiering in 2019, the first season managed to achieve an average of around 500,000 views, which is no small feat for a darker animation.

Kino Lorber and Something Weird Video continue their collaboration to present “Forbidden Fruit: The Golden Age of the Exploitation Picture” with Volume 9—The Lash of the Penitentes. Like the other exploitation titles that have appeared over the last two years, Lash is another piece of American celluloid that will surely elicit jaw-dropping, eye-rolling, and headshaking. How did these things ever get made and distributed? Who went to see them? How corrupted was one after a viewing?
These delicious and suitably sleazy pictures in the “Forbidden Fruit” series were made cheaply and outside the Hollywood system. They were distributed independently in the manner of a circus sideshow, often by renting a movie theater for a few nights, advertising in the local papers, and promoting the salacious title as “educational.” For adults only, mind you, but exhibited all...

The Visual Effects Society Awards were handed out during a virtual ceremony on Tuesday, April 6. “The Midnight Sky” won the Ves equivalent of the Best Picture race – Best Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature. It bested Oscar frontrunner “Tenet” in that category, as well as “Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey,” “Project Power” and “The Witches.” George Clooney‘s sci-fi drama won an additional prize for Best Model in a Photoreal of Animated Project. Scroll down for a complete list of winners and nominees at the 2021 Visual Effects Society Awards.
“Tenet” shouldn’t get too discouraged about its Oscar chances. Last year’s Academy Award winner for Best Visual Effects, “1917,” wasn’t even nominated in the top category at the Ves. That award went to “The Lion King,” which lost at the Oscars to Sam Mendes‘ WWI epic. “1917” did compete at the Visual Effects Society for Best Supporting Visual Effects,...

Zackary Arthur (Transparent), Teo Briones (Ratched), Alyvia Alyn Lind (Daybreak) and Björgvin Arnarson (The Seventh Day) are set to star as series regulars and the four teen leads of USA Network and Syfy’s Chucky, from the movie franchise creator/writer Don Mancini. Jennifer Tilly, reprising her role as Tiffany Valentine from the movies, and Devon Sawa (Final Destination) will recur on the project, ordered straight-to-series last year.
The new Chucky incarnation revolves around the character at the center of the horror/slasher Child’s Play film series, the red-haired, freckled-faced doll possessed by the soul of notorious serial killer, Charles Lee Ray. In the television series, after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. One of my favorite viewing experiences this year was finally catching up on Nickelodeon's Are You Afraid of the Dark? revival, and while I'm bummed that the characters from the first season won't be returning, I'm still thrilled to see whatever the new Midnight Society cooks up next around the campfire.
With the new season of Are You Afraid of the Dark? premiering sometime in 2021, Nickelodeon is celebrating the New Year a bit early with their first teaser video for the new season that reveals its official title: Curse of the Shadows.

The Mandalorian season 2 concluded with an unexpected twist which had fans wondering how Jon Favreau would continue to chronicle the story of the bounty hunter Din Djarin and his ward Baby Yoda.
Of course, the show had been building towards that monumental ending for some time. In fact, for almost two seasons, we had seen The Child perform seemingly impossible tasks with the Force. And as is the case with all talented individuals in Star Wars, he needed special training to be able to focus his abilities and protect himself.
Though as Ahsoka revealed in “Chapter 13: The Jedi,” Grogu has the potential to fall to the Dark Side under the wrong circumstances, the same fate that befell Anakin Skywalker two decades prior to the events of the show. But now that he’s in the hands of Luke Skywalker, it’s safe to say that he’ll turn out differently,...

The Mandalorian blew the internet’s collective mind yet again with its season 2 finale last week as it ended with the one and only Luke Skywalker turning up to take Baby Yoda away. The climax of the episode was both thrilling and heartbreaking, as Din Djarin was forced to let Grogu head off to be trained up in the ways of the Force by the legendary Jedi Master. We were left with many questions after watching, but one of the biggest was, just how did they manage to pull that surprise cameo off?
Exec producer Jon Favreau has now opened up about the difficulty in keeping Hamill’s involvement in the finale a secret while speaking to Good Morning America. The showrunner – who also penned the episode – admitted that the crew were terrified the news was going to leak all the way up until “Chapter 16” actually premiered last Friday, explaining:...

Chicago – Dennis Dugan, in directing Adam Sandler (“Happy Gilmore”), Chris Farley (“Beverly Hills Ninja”) and John Ritter (“Problem Child”), can rightly be considered a comedy director icon. He also for his latest film, “Love, Weddings & Other Disasters,” developed the story and wrote the screenplay for the first time.
An impending wedding is the backdrop for the film, as it weaves multiple storylines regarding the search for love by a colorful group of characters. They include an inexperienced wedding planner nicknamed “The Wedding Trasher” (Maggie Grace), a fussy celebrity caterer (Jeremy Irons) negotiating a “blind date” (Diane Keaton) and a Duck Boat tour guide (Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor) looking for his Cinderella. It all comes together, connecting the love encounters and the nuptials. The film also features Melinda Hill, Jesse McCartney and even director Dugan takes a role.

The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal has shared an awesome old school poster for last week’s episode of season 2. “Chapter 12: The Siege” saw Din Djarin reunite with a couple of familiar allies on Nevarro, with Mando aiding Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) and Cara Dune (Gina Carano) in taking out an Imperial base. There was a kind of old fashioned Star Wars flavor to the episode, then, which has inspired this epic Original Trilogy-esque poster for “Chapter 12.”

Mando! Yes, The Mandalorian, the flagship Disney+ program, is back with Season Two. Now, last week brought the return of the show, cementing it as one of the great series out there. Read on for a bit more about Season Two, but honestly, everyone is already watching, I’m sure of it. Still, we press on and help fan the flames even more! As I’ve previously said, when The Mandalorian came to Disney+ last year, it was, arguably, a shock to most how great it was. The introduction of the Timeless Child backstory at the end of the most recent season of Doctor Who was, to put it lightly, a controversial move. Retconning much of what we know about the Doctor and the history of Time Lords, the decision means that the lead character is something very different to what we first thought. A new theory, however, is now suggesting that the Master could also be a Timeless Child.
According to ScreenRant, the revamped origin story for the Doctor had the consequence of making the Master less of their equal, in that they’re now just another Time Lord, albeit a powerful one who’s managed to cheat their typical regeneration cycle. When Tecteun discovered the Timeless Child at the border to another universe, we see these events take place in the third-person, raising the possibility that someone had to be watching the scene for it...
