I hate making claims like the one you’re about to read, but here goes nothing: Pandemic is the Alien Outpost of 2016 – assuredly my most inconsequential critical comparison. “Alien Outpost” will mean nothing to the hordes who never discovered its existence, and I’m confident that many of you might never have heard of a little first-person thriller called Pandemic until now. But that’s why I’m here! It’s my job to constantly chug away at a never-ending pile of horror’s lesser publicized efforts while insomnia sets in and the voices keep me company.

In this who’s who of “where are they now” talents from Hollywood’s yesteryear, director John Suits dives head-first into a zombie plague that’s a little bit 28 Days Later, a tad Battlefield La (in feel), and reminiscent of Rec (not in quality, though). Beginning as any video game would (an introductory tutorial...

The first week of July sees a ton of genre titles headed home on DVD and Blu-ray including a handful of cult classics including Stuart Gordon’s Robot Jox, The Crimson Cult which co-stars Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee, Luigi Cozzi’s Contamination, a pair of 1974 shockers- Deranged and Spasmo- as well as The Killers, which is based on Ernest Hemingway’s chilling tale of the same name and gave the film noir subgenre a boost back in the 1940’s.

For those of you looking for something a little more current, you’ve got Alien Outpost, The Pact 2, Trophy Heads and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s recent zombie film, Maggie, to look forward to as well. As if that wasn’t enough, we also have last year’s Town that Dreaded Sundown remake is also arriving on both DVD and Blu-ray, with the latter being available exclusively at Best Buy on July 7th.

We’re going to be invaded by aliens at some point. It’s a definite. So many movies can’t be wrong. Zombies will be a thing, too. I promise you. But how will we know how to prepare for these inevitabilities? With so many variations in these prophetic films, we don’t know if they’ll be enemies or friends…well, except for the zombies. I’m pretty sure the zombies will be bad, and stabbing the brain seems reasonable (I won’t be the first to do it, though). Anyway, back to aliens invading; Alien Outpost is the first movie that I’m aware of that attempts to realistically approach a hostile invasion. Finally! We have a manual to prepare! Is it any good though?

Filmed in a documentary style, Alien Outpost follows three troops sent to join an infantry corp at an outpost with the goal of hurting the alien defenses.

If you watch any war documentaries—you can feel the realism of the firefights and soldiers during conflicts. Now just add invading space aliens to a war.

Director Jabbar Raisani brought a sci-fi alien war on Earth in a documentary point of view in “Alien Outpost.” The film follows documentarians filming a group of soldiers defending a military outpost from aliens in the Middle East.

If you thought 2015 would bring an end to horror’s found footage obsession, you’re a silly, optimistic soul who doesn’t understand what makes these films perfect studio fodder. Alien Outpost isn’t even the first found footage film I’ve seen this January, but thankfully it’s leaps and bounds ahead of the competition – only by comparison. Writer/Director Jabbar Raisani goes about reinvigorating one of my least favorite horror genres – alien invasions – and actually makes the extraterrestrial assault more enticing than it probably should be thanks to a video-game-like intensity favoring run-and-gun shooters. Raisani might have developed his special effects skills beheading noble types throughout Game Of Thrones, but the budding talent shows an eye for visual grandeur and succinct delivery in his future-blasting directorial debut.

In Outpost 37 (formerly Alien Outpost) a documentary crew follows an elite unit of soldiers in the wake of an alien invasion. The indie science fiction thriller directed by visual FX supervisor Jabbar Raisani who has worked behind the scenes of such shows as Game of Thrones, Predators and Machete.

IFC Midnight has acquired the rights to the science fiction thriller "Outpost 37." The film centers on a documentary crew embedded with an elite unit of soldiers fighting to save mankind in the aftermath of a devastating alien invasion. "Outpost 37" marks Jabbar Raisani's feature directorial debut. For the majority of his career thus far, Raisani has worked in visual effects -- including the "Fantastic Four," "Superman Returns," "Machete," and most recently, 10 episodes of HBO's "Game of Thrones." On "Outpost 37," Raisani not only directed, but also served as the film's visual effects supervisor. Adrian Paul, who starred in the long-running fantasy, sci-fi television series "Highlander" from the 1990s, co-stars in "Outpost 37" alongside Reiley McClendon of ABC Family's "The Fosters" and Douglas Tait.

After providing the visual effects for films like Predators and Machete, Jabbar Raisani makes his directorial debut with the creature feature Outpost 37, which has just found itself inside the comfort of a distribution home. Read on!

Laurie Cook, Jason Newmark, and Trevor Engelson produced for Bigscope Films. Michael Sackler, Julia Godzinskaya, and Sophie Vickers are executive producers for Rooks Nest Entertainment alongside Will Clarke, Andy Mayson, and Mike Runagall for Altitude Film Entertainment.

At the time it was descrbed as " a docu crew accompanying an elite unit of marines tasked with protecting mankind in the aftermath of an alien invasion." Exclusive: Pathe executive to join Altitude as head of development.

Pathe creative executive Bradley Quirk is to join Will Clarke’s Altitude as head of development.

Quirk will join Altitude in April. Pathe is expected to fill the role vacated by Quirk in the coming months.

The executive worked on a number of prestige titles at Pathe including Stephen Frears’ Oscar-nominated Philomena, Justin Chadwick’s Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Matthew Warchus’s Pride and Sarah Gavron’s upcoming Carey Mulligan drama Sufragette.

Quirk joined Pathé as creative executive in January 2012. Prior to that, he spent four years as story editor and talent tracker for the UKFC Film Fund and subsequently the BFI.

Whilst at the Film Fund, he worked across titles including Clio Barnard’s The Arbor, James Marsh’s Shadowdancer, Rufus Norris’s Broken and Eran Creevy’s Welcome to the Punch.

Altitude Film Sales is to bring three new titles to the European Film Market (Efm) at the Berlin Film Festival next week in addition to its previously announced slate.

Fishing Without Nets, winner of this year’s Sundance Us Dramatic Directing Award, is produced by Vice and Think Media Studios.

It marks the directorial feature debut of Cutter Hodierne, whose short film of the same name won the Sundance Special Jury Prize in 2012. Shot in East Africa using Somali non-actors, the film tells the story of an oil tanker hijacking from the perspective of impoverished Somalis.

As announced yesterday, Altitude will also bring Blood Mountain, directed by Sergei Bodrov and starring Benedict Cumberbatch. UTA Independent Film Group helped arrange financing for the project and will represent the North American rights to the film.

The cast is coming together for the feature helming debut of L.A.-based VFX supervisor Jabbar Raisani (Predators, Machete, "Game of Thrones"), Outpost 37, and we've got the skinny on who's next at bat to fend off the alien menace.

Catch Me Daddy - a taut and uncompromising thriller inspired by the classic character-driven thrillers of the 1970’s and early 80’s (Badlands, The Getaway, Deliverance, Blood Simple, The Friends Of Eddie Coyle). Award-winning commercials and music video director Daniel Wolfe makes his feature debut with a storyabout a couple on the run from the type of violence and crime that the law cannot reach, and overturns the conventions of the thriller genre, with a female lead stepping up as the heroine of the piece. Started shooting on 18 March in the UK. Currently in post-production.

Outpost 37 - a high concept, sci-fi, action film marking the directorial debut of La-based director and Visual FX maestro Jabbar Raisani (Game of Thrones, Iron Man, Predators). Jason Newmark (Triangle, Severance) and Laurie Cook produce for Bigscope alongside Trevor Engelson for Underground Entertainment (Remember Me). Will Clarke, Andy Mayson and Mike Runagall executive produce for Altitude. Filming starts on 14 May. Co-written by Raisani with Blake Clifton, the film centres on a documentary crew as they follow an elite unit of marines, tasked with protecting mankind in the aftermath of a devastating alien invasion. As they reach the world’s most dangerous outpost they make a terrifying discovery; the first invasion was just the beginning.

The Good People - the highly anticipated original dark and malevolent fairytale chiller to be directed by Corin Hardy, a Screen International Star of Tomorrow and director of brilliant short films and music videos (The Prodigy, Keane, Paolo Nutini). Scientist, Adam, moves with his family to an ancient Millhouse in the Irish countryside. But what seems a rural idyll soon becomes a terrifying fight for survival when the couple comes under attack from horrifying and demonic creatures that lurk in the woods, hell bent on destroying them all. Co-written by Hardy with Olga Barreneche, Joe Neurauter and Felipe Marino of Occupant Entertainment (The Wackness and All The Boys Love Mandy Lane) produce. Altitude is handling international sales and financial packaging on this project.

Kill Your Friends - a satirical and hysterically funny evisceration of the music industry set against the iconic backdrop of Cool Britannia and the Britpop era of late 1990’s London, based on John Niven’s cult novel which he is adapting for the screenplay. BAFTA award-winner Owen Harris (Misfits, Holy Flying Circus) is to direct withRafe Spall (Prometheus,Life of Pi, I Give It A Year) cast in the lead role. Gregor Cameron is producing alongside Altitude. The film is set to start shooting this summer.
