In the final scene when Liz leaves the prison, the car is close to the prison door. In the next shot, the car hasn't moved but is much farther away from the prison.

There was a scene where Ted Bundy was forcibly restrained in his cell so to gain impressions of his teeth for evidence. In reality, he was shown the instruments that could be used on him if he chose to be difficult. Not only did he comply while sitting in a dentist chair, he reminded the officers that he had no problem doing this as he wasn't a violent man.

When Ted is asking Liz if he ever laid a hand on her or raised his voice, the film neglects to mention the instances from the past where he was controlling and on one occasion he pushed Liz into a lake during an argument. The film also neglects to mention his constant stealing.

During the indictment reading in front of the press, the door behind Sherriff Ken Katsaris reads "Miami-Dade County Clerk's Office." During the verdict reading, the clerk of the court begins reading the verdict by announcing, "We the jury, in Miami-Dade County, Florida..." however at the time of the Bundy trial, Miami was part of Dade County. The county name did not change to "Miami-Dade" until 1997.

Ted Bundy was in the custody of the Leon County Sheriffs Office, in Tallahassee, Florida. Leon County Sheriff, Ken Katsaris read the indictment to him at 9:30 PM on July 28, 1978, outside an elevator in the Leon County Courthouse, in Tallahassee. Bundy spent that same morning in front of judges in Pensacola, Florida, and was transported back to Tallahassee. The Leon County Grand Jury indicted Bundy at 3:00 PM on July 28. Miami, or Miami-Dade, are not part of the Ted Bundy story with respect to the Chi Omega murders he perpetrated.

At the very beginning of the film which says late 1970s, a $5 bill is removed from a wallet that's from a banknote series started in the 2000s.

The movie starts off in 1969, and Ted Bundy is supposed to be driving a 1968 VW Standard Beetle. However the VW that Bundy drives in the movie is 1973 (or later) Super Beetle. You can tell due to the curved windshield and wide trunk hood which only came on those model years.

Judge Edward Cowart was heavyset, had no beard, a full head of hair and had a thick southern accent. John Malkovich is bald, bearded, thin and played him with no accent.
