Dahavi Fa (2002) :
Brief Review -
An evolutionary lesson to hopeless Backbenchers and teachers who made them hopeless. Dahavi Fa is directed by master duo Sunil Sukhathankar and Sumitra Bhave who, in my opinion, is the best director's pair in Marathi Cinema. I have seen several classics made by them after 2005, i mean multiplex era and have loved many of them very much. This, Dahavi Fa was made in 2002, a Single screen era when that multiples audience who loves to watch offbeat and experimental content used to stay away from theatres. This thing quickly caught my attention, however, i would have got excited just by seeing Sunil-Sumitra's name as directors only but still it made me curious. I wanted to see whether or not this master duo was trying to go offbeat even then in single screen era when there was no audience available for it. Eventually, i saw Dahavi Fa and found it lighter than other heavily intense films of theirs. Dahavi Fa is about Naughty kids from 10th/F class which indicates towards the low grades in a way and the teachers who treat them as hopeless creatures. The film shows the discrimination by teachers and then how one among them comes forward to stop this traditional torture and guids the students to channel their talent for good. Entirely, this film is shot with realistic sense. There is not a single lavish scene. Every scene is presented with realistic touch and the execution for the same remains impeccable throughout the narrative. All the child artists give natural performances, Atul Kulkarni shows his class acting and the supporting cast is extremely good. Sunil-Sumitra keeps the essence alive and does not hesitate to show some bitter facts. Overall, they make a Fantastic awareness lecture that might bring some important changes in our educational system.
