I have to admit that when I stumbled upon the 2013 movie "Sink Hole" and saw that rather low rating it had gotten on IMDb, then I was doubtful about watching the movie. But still, with it being a disaster movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to sit down and watch what writer Keith Shaw and director Scott Wheeler had to offer.
And this was a disaster movie alright. But not in a good way. Nay, "Sink Hole" was just a, hands down, terrible movie. There is no need to beat around the sink hole here. Take heed, people, the low rating is indeed an indicator of what you are in for here.
The storyline, as written by Keith Shaw, was bland and just downright boring. It felt like the script, storyline, characters and dialogue was written by a pre-teen preparing to write a play for a live action role-playing gaming group. Yup, you are not in for anything spectacular here.
As a disaster movie, then having proper special effects is a must. Did the 2013 movie "Sink Hole" have that? No. Not even remotely close to anything resembling proper special effects. In fact, the CGI in "Sink Hole" looked like something taken out of an early 1990s computer game. It was pretty lousy and bad to look at.
I do wonder why the likes of Jeremy London and Eric Roberts pop up in movies such as these. I suppose the script sold the movie better than what was delivered to the screen.
If you enjoy disaster movies, do yourself a favor and skip on "Sink Hole". This was as boring, bland, predictable and generic as they come.
My rating of "Sink Hole" lands on a generous two out of ten stars.
