Year 1928. Ciénaga, Colombia. We are now in the second week of the Great Banana Strike, and the rules of life have changed: closed shops, blocked railroads, checkpoints demanding safe-conduct passes. Nevertheless, Norma Landinez travels from France to care for her injured husband - a wealthy landowner with ties to the United Fruit Company, the multinational involved in the scandal of workers' protests. But shortly after settling in, disturbing supernatural events will erode Norma's sanity as a wave of female suicides unfolds in the region.
