I came across this German flick by visiting a horror convention were the production was promoting this flick by giving away sigh, promo stuff. It became clear that this was an almost no budget flick and it shows somehow.
It's not the first German flick I do see were they are trying to speak English. No probs with that but you still can hear the German accent. But not only that, the story is rather weak and the acting isn't Oscar worthy.
The effects used if there are any are not up to date. On some they did spend a bit of money for example smashing a head with a foot. Here and there the red stuff do splatter but overall it's stabbing with a crowbar or shooting one in the head.
The thing everyone was waiting for is the Hitler zombie but all zombies are doing the same. Fun, yes, I only laughed when Adolf Hitler appears and all Nazi zombies are doing the Hitler salute.
Guess if you see this p*ssed and proud you will like it but too much of the same...

When I stumbled upon this 2015 movie here in 2025, by random chance, and seeing the movie's cover, of course I opted to give the movie a chance. I am a huge fan of horror movies and zombie movies in particular. And with "Bunker of the Dead" being a movie that I had neither seen nor heard about, it had to be watched. And I didn't know what I was in for, which meant that director Matthias Olof Eich had every opportunity to entertain and impress me.
Well, the storyline in "Bunker of the Dead" is pretty straightforward, though somewhat heavy on the simplistic side. This was just like sitting through someone playing a dubious first person shooter game with zombies. Yeah, that whole aspect of the movie being filmed by a GoPro camera strapped to Markus (played by Patrick Jahns) just didn't really do much to impress me. So writers Matthias Olof Eich and Bernd Strack didn't really impress me with their storyline and script. This was a type of movie where you just entirely disconnect your brain, lean back and ride along on a make-believe first person shooter.
The acting performances in the movie were okay for the type of movie that it was. It wasn't as it heavy acting performances were required in order to run through dark corridors with a GoPro camera strapped on you and shooting or swinging at zombies rushing at you. It was funny, though, to have American soldiers speak with thick German accents; that just didn't come off so well. Needless to say that I wasn't familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list.
Something that the movie had working for it, was the locations, wardrobes and props. I liked the uniforms and the props, and most of the zombie make-up and prosthetics were good too. And that definitely counted for something, since the narrative was a pretty watered down bowl of soup.
"Bunker of the Dead" looked and felt like a home movie project concocted by two gamers.
Watchable a single time, but "Bunker of the Dead" hardly left a lasting impression on me. And as for it cementing a place in the zombie cinema? No, not really.
My rating of director Matthias Olof Eich's 2015 movie "Bunker of the Dead" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.

Found footage are not easy to kill. They are indeed a bit like zombies one may say. So why not combine them then? Depending on your thresshold and your ability to keep it together when you see a movie that runs almost 80 minutes and all of it being found footage ... not an easy task. Although it's not always "shaky cam" throughout to be fair.
Also consider this being a low budget german horror movie. There are things you have to take into account - or rather into your rating if you can dig them. So as someone else already stated, this is far from a masterpiece, but there have been worse movies too. Special effects are ok - that's at least something. Especially again considering the budget this was made on. Not everyones cup of tea - but those who like it, will enjoy it more than I gave it credit for

The producers of this video - cause that's not a movie - should be sent to bed early and without supper.
... assuming they are 13 year olds.
I refuse to believe adult persons were involved in the making of this. Cause if so, that would be the only horrifying factor of that video.
I'm done now with my review.
IMDb is forcing me to write a couple more lines. By the time i have reached the line quota i will have put more work and effort in this review than everybody in this film, crew and participants alike - i refuse to call them actors like i will not call this video a film - have invested to make the video.
Can i click the submit button now? How about now? Oh come on are you f...ing kidding me?!

OK...this film isn't a MASTERPIECE...but it really isn't THAT BAD either. It's funny at times, and I've seen much MUCH worse acting in other "B grade" zombie movies. Don't get me wrong, the acting isn't GREAT but going into this you KNOW you're not going to get Oscar winning performances. If you're a gamer,or even are a fan of "Hardcore Henry" you MAY enjoy this little zombie romp. On the PLUS side,it has a fairly short runtime because ANY more would have been TOO MUCH. Overall...I liked it.
