XDefiant is expected to drop this year on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and here is all of the latest news about its release, post-launch plan, and more.

Ubisoft will soon release its answer to the Call of Duty franchise with XDefiant, a game that was announced in July 2021 and has since conducted several public playtests, after which many have compared the gameplay to 2012's beloved Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

XDefiant is an arena-based first-person shooter featuring locations and factions from Ubisoft's biggest game series such as Far Cry, Tom Clancy, Watch Dogs, and more.

Ubisoft has a very weird way to manage certain game projects; for example, Skull and Bones had more than 10 years in development and launched one month ago with several delays.

The company has also announced a Call of Duty-like game, XDefiant, which was first revealed in 2021, and since then, with just one beta of the game, there has been no more news about it. This beta was released 268 days ago, and Ubisoft has not talked about this game since then, and there seems to be no rush to launch the title.

The track record of Ubisoft is not good at all; some projects that the multibillion-dollar company has announced have had various delays and not even one new update.

Ubisoft’s free-roam sci-fi action-adventure game series Watch Dogs has received mixed reviews from critics and players alike. The game did have an interesting premise, but some felt it didn’t break out of the Ubisoft open-world formula enough to stand out among other games like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry.

It seems the potential of the series has been noticed by people outside of the gaming community as well. It’s common for popular franchises to get adapted into other media, and the same is happening with a live-action movie for Watch Dogs. But is Ubisoft taking on more than it can handle?

The Watch Dogs Movie will be Created by New Regency

New Regency and Ubisoft Entertainment are teaming up for a live-action feature film based on the action-focused tactical hacker video game, “Watch Dogs.” The studio previously landed French director Mathieu Turi (“Meander“) and has chosen the first actor to lead the video game adaptation. Deadline reports that young Aussie actress Sophie Wilde has joined the project.

Spawning a hit franchise comprising two sequels and counting, Watch Dogs sees high-tech outlaws cause all kinds of digital mischief in cities around the world, with each game taking in stealth, driving, fisticuffs, shooting and tinkering with electronic devices.

In the years since Den Of Geek first sprung into existence, we’ve consistently kept an eye on the videogames that have been touted for the big screen treatment. We’ve tried to list them all in a big article a few times before, and it feels like the time has come to pull a new version together.

If we haven’t heard anything about a certain videogame movie in two years or more, it seems safe to assume that it’s quietly been binned. That’s why you won’t find the likes of BioShock, Devil May Cry, Far Cry, Gears Of War, Halo, Heavy Rain and Rollercoaster Tycoon on this list. If we get proven wrong on any of those, we’ll update this article as more information comes to light.
