The dark fantasy Tougen Anki, which bears an uncanny resemblance to Jujutsu Kaisen in several ways, has been quietly captivating fans of the supernatural battle manga genre in recent years. Now that the battle between Jujutsu Sorcerers and Curses has reached its conclusion, there’s no better time to shift the spotlight to an even older conflict — namely, the ancient struggle between Oni (demons) and Momotaro (humans).
As revealed in a post to @tougenanki_anm, the official X account of Tougen Anki, the cult-classic manga will be adapted into an anime with a scheduled premiere sometime in July 2025. Anime has a unique way of blending genres, tones, and styles, creating shows that entertain, intrigue, and surprise us. One such anime is the recently released Science Saru’s Dandadan. However, this is not the first time an anime has done such unique experiments. Another anime that shares a distinct knack for combining humor, horror, and unconventional storytelling like Dandadan is Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead.

Where Dandadan dives into paranormal oddities with energy with hints of humor, Zom 100 taps into an apocalyptic zombie world with a protagonist who relishes freedom in the most surprising of ways. Although the series has its share of issues that keep it from fully achieving its potential, Zom 100 still offers a spirited experience that will resonate with Dandadan fans, particularly those looking for an optimistic spin on bleak settings.

Fans of the comedy horror Bodies Bodies Bodies will be disappointed to learn that the movie will leave Netflix on Sept. 19, 2024. But the good news is that a long list of horror comedies is available on the streaming service to fill the void. And don't miss this year's Netflix & Chills lineup.
Bodies Bodies Bodies and other horror comedies are a unique subgenre of horror that mixes slasher elements with absurd comedic ones. Mixing comedy with horror is nothing new, as Edgar Allan Poe and other writers often combined the two in their works.
Bride of Chucky
Bride of Chucky is the fourth installment of the Child's Play franchise, written by creator Don Mancini and directed by Ronny Yu, also known for Freddy vs. Jason (2003). Brad Dourif returns as the voice of Chucky, with Jennifer Tilly portraying Tiffany Valentine, a role she would reprise in several other installments of the franchise.

Since the end of 2018, Netflix has released eight apocalyptic movies. Some, like 2023's Leave The World Behind, have been a qualified success. However, others, like Io, have failed to deliver on their intriguing premise.
While Netflix is now a major movie producer across all genres, the streaming service seems to have a particular fixation with apocalyptic movies. Since the release of Bird Box in late 2018, the platform has produced no less than eight original movies centered around the apocalypse or apocalyptic events. Considering the scale of production needed to realistically bring such environments to life, compared to other, more economical genres like romantic comedy, this number of movies about the end of the world might strike some as surprisingly high.
With so many different films from the past few years to choose from, genre aficionados are somewhat spoiled for choice. However, when comparing all eight side-by-side, it's clear that some stand up better than others.

A long-form story arc is being completed before being fleshed out into episodic storylines. Shooting, production schedules and cast details will be announced in the future.

The zombie genre is one that appears to have nothing new at this point. We seem to have seen every possible variation through various movies, books, and games. Which is why the manga “Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead” written by Haro Aso and illustrated by Kotaro Takata quickly became known as a fun and fresh take on the old zombie apocalypse setup when first printed in 2018 in the magazine “Monthly Sunday Gene-x”. Last year saw two adaptations; the Netflix movie directed by Yusuke Ishida and the 12-episode anime series directed by Kazuki Kawagoe and produced by studio Bug Films. Whilst the film was an enjoyable romp, it never felt like it was able to make the most of the manga's premise. The anime, however, was one of the most enjoyable shows of 2023 and had something truly special about it. And I'm not talking about the zombie shark.

The "Fallout" video games (and now the TV show) are unique among stories set in the post-apocalypse for their grim comedy. Granted, you wouldn't notice at first glance. The franchise's wasteland is home to plenty of horrors like radroaches, radaxolotls with fingers for teeth, and the fearful deathclaw, while the "Fallout" TV adaptation is all about themes of privilege, prejudice, and inequality.
"Fallout," in other words, is not strictly a post-apocalyptic comedy like "Zombieland" and not exactly a hang-out story like "Zom 100: Bucket List Of The Dead." Still, there is plenty of joy to be found within its universe — as long as you live in a vault.
Vaults are as quintessential to the world of "Fallout" as ghouls or Power Armor. It is where you start each and every one of the main games, as well as the last safe haven on Earth before the nukes obliterated the surface.

Censoring Streamers
Malaysia’s Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has said that he plans to hold meetings with the Communications Ministry with a view to extending the remit of the country’s Film Censorship Board (Lpf) to video streamers. Currently, the Lpf has jurisdiction over theatrical releases, but not content carried on the internet.
Malaysia has been notable in demanding cuts – sometimes refused by rights holders – to imported and local films, especially where they touch on religion or homosexuality, even tangentially. Hollywood films “Thor” and “Lightyear” were both banned. Last year, local director Amanda Nell Eu denounced the censored cut of her prize-winning film “Tiger Stripes.”
Speaking in parliament, Saifuddin said “the Lpf will not approve the screening of any films that promote LGBTQ, communism, Islamophobia, and those conflicting Islamic beliefs.”

Pokémon Concierge is a cozy and relaxing series that appeals to both casual and diehard fans of the franchise. The animation and atmosphere of the show create a therapeutic feeling of calmness and the visuals are breathtaking. The series feels too short with only four episodes, leaving fans wanting more, but it is still a must-watch with a likable cast of characters.
Netflix's latest addition to the hit Pokémon franchise, Pokémon Concierge, is the coziest way fans can end the 2023 anime season. The past year has been filled with countless hit anime. Many great anime in 2023 were underrated and didn't receive the attention they deserved due to factors like bad timing and overshadowing by bigger hits. Tomo-chan Is a Girl! had an excellently written couple, but its anime adaptation was viewed as old-fashioned compared to others and fell to the wayside. Ragna Crimson's incredible action and artwork were not captured in its anime adaptation, leading it to be seen as just another average fantasy anime.
2023 is coming to a close, and it was an all-around great year for anime. Old favorites like Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen returned to much fanfare, and new anime like Oshi no Ko, Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead, and The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady all became some of the biggest hits of their respective seasons.

My New Boss is Goofy portrays an adorable and healing workplace dynamic between Momose and his boss, Shirosaki. Shirosaki's quirky personality and kind gestures help Momose cope with his past traumatic work experiences, which are also the subject of the recent hit Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead. Unlike Zom 100, this anime presents a heartwarming story without zombies, but still provides a touching and realistic portrayal of personal growth.
While there are no zombies or an impending apocalypse in Crunchyroll's new anime My New Boss is Goofy, this workplace comedy explores an unfortunate real-life culture that also plagues the protagonist in the critically acclaimed Zom 100: Bucket List for the Dead. Both Zom 100's Akira and My New Boss is Goofy's Momose were unfortunately employed in an overly toxic office environment that traumatized them before liberating themselves.

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead has one of the best openings of the year, matching the joy of the concept while infusing zombie tropes with color and brightness. Undead Girl Murder Farce's opening merges different styles and introduces famous characters, capturing the fun and wild nature of the show. Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead has been a massive hit on Crunchyroll, but it has been plagued by delays caused by production issues. The anime's opening highlights its biggest problem on a technical level. While Zom 100 has been a big hit for the summer 2023 season, a big problem with it has been the anime’s constant delays.
