Gabe Darland, the younger brother of Chris Darland, writer/director of the film, actually played three different parts. In the first race scene the green roadster is being driven by Dan Williamson who actually owned the 31, his role was the detective. The unique throttle placement required he pilot the vehicle. Johnny B's was is really a place several of the actors occasionally hung out at. The actual owner played the actual owner.
