The National Basketball Association (NBA) has renewed its long-term telecast agreement with the Walt Disney Company’s ESPN and secured new deals with Comcast’s NBC Sports and Amazon’s Prime Video for national telecast rights to its games, starting next year.

The agreement, announced late Wednesday afternoon, comes after a last-minute effort by Warner Bros Discovery (Wbd) to match a bid made by one of the broadcasters — reportedly Prime Video — to keep games on TNT Sports, which the league rejected this week.

Starting with the 2025-26 season, the NBA will expand the availability of nationally-televised games on traditional and streaming TV platforms, with Comcast’s NBC and Peacock offering the most games.

Brian McConnachie, the Emmy-winning writer with the offbeat sense of humor who worked on Sctv Network and Saturday Night Live and appeared in Caddyshack and several films for Woody Allen, has died. He was 81.

McConnachie died Friday of complications from Parkinson’s disease in Venice, Florida, Michael Gerber, editor and publisher of The American Bystander, told The Hollywood Reporter. The duo relaunched the humor magazine in 2015 after McConnachie — an original staff member at National Lampoon — originally got it going in 1981.

We’re now at the end of 2023, and the list of canceled Netflix shows for the year is now complete. Below, we’ll look at all the high-profile cancelations (that have been announced anyway) as of December 2023.

Cancelations are a painful part of being a Netflix subscriber. There’s nothing worse than starting a show only to discover that it’ll never properly conclude. Netflix isn’t the only network by any means to cancel, but given the scale of the service globally and the amount of content it produces, it’s easy to see why Netflix is the boogeyman.

With that said, Netflix does renew plenty, with over 150 shows at any given time set to return for future seasons.

There will also be lots and lots of shows that fall outside of this list into two camps.

Naturally ending shows include The Crown, Firefly Lane, and Never Have I Ever.

For the first time in 10 years, all five members of the band - Justin Timberlake, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Jc Chasez - reunited at the MTV VMAs in Newark, NJ, on Sept. 12. Nearly 16 years since they officially disbanded in 2007, *Nsync surprised fans by presenting the first award of the night: best pop, which was awarded to Taylor Swift for "Anti-Hero."

After being introduced by Nicki Minaj, the band walked out to the tune of "Bye Bye Bye." Fans greeted the pop superstars with an uproar of cheers and applause, which later increased when Swift took the stage to accept her award. "I'm not doing well pivoting from this to this," Swift said in her speech, referring to her win and the opportunity to meet the band.

A team of Florida-based alligator hunters caught a “dinosaur” gator weighing 920 pounds and measuring 13.3-feet long. It was the second largest in the state, with the biggest weighing 1,000 pounds.

Kevin Brotz, who was part of the group that captured the gator, told Orlando TV station Wesh-2 he “had a fear like I never felt before.”

Brotz, who runs Florida Gator Hunting, has been a guide for almost 20 years. He captured the behemoth in a lake near Orlando with two friends, Darren Field and Carson Gore. It took them four hours to get the gator. They ultimately caught it by lassoing the beast while lashing it to the side of the vessel.

The catch comes after four hunters killed the biggest recorded alligator in the state of Mississippi.

Wheel of Fortune‘s long-time letter-turner Vanna White last had a pay raise 18 years ago, and so she is looking for a very significant bump as negotiations continue for a new contract. Daniel Goldberg, the co-screenwriter of “Stripes” and producer of feature comedies like “Space Jam,” “Old School” and the “Hangover” trilogy, died Wednesday at age 74.

Chris Hemsworth‘s action-thriller “Extraction 2” has been dominating the English movie charts for weeks, but it was bumped by the new action-comedy “The Out-Laws,” starring Adam Devine, Nina Dobrev, Ellen Barkin and Pierce Brosnan. It racked up 19.6 million views since debuting on the streamer to take the #1 spot, the most-watched movie in the United States and over forty other countries (but not the UK or Canada).

“The Witcher” Season 3 and “The Lincoln Lawyer” Season 2 are currently the most-watched series on Netflix, according to the streamer’s top 10 English-language TV list.

All three seasons of “The Witcher” appeared on the list, with Season 3 Part 1 coming in first place with 13.8 million views. This marks the second week in a row the latest season of Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan’s fantasy drama secured the top spot. Season 1 then appeared in sixth place (2.6 million views) followed by Season 2 in seventh (2.4 million views).

“The Witcher” was then followed by Season 2 of “The Lincoln Lawyer,” which secured 7.4 million views. The first season of the Manuel Garcia-Rulfo series also appeared on the list in eighth place with 2.3 million views. But the legal drama wasn’t the only new addition on the list. Tom Segura’s stand-up special “Sledgehammer” debuted at No. 3 with 4.5 million views, and dessert competition series “Is It Cake, Too?” debuted at No.

Troubled country singer Mindy McCready has been committed to rehab for alcohol and mental health issues in the wake of her boyfriend, David Wilson’s, death last month. Addtionally, the 37-year-old’s two young sons have been removed from her Arkansas home.
