The International Emmy Awards 2024, held in New York City on November 25th, were a star-studded affair. Hosted by comedian and actor Vir Das, the event honored the best of global television shows.

The nominations for 14 categories were announced in September 2024, with various talents from 21 countries competing to win the coveted trophies. While the awards night was memorable, it did irk some fans with its fair share of snubs and controversial moments.

The Night Manager Snubbed in Best Drama Series

Disney+ Hotstar’s The Night Manager was the only Indian series to get a nod at the International Emmy Awards 2024. The crime thriller series, starring Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sobhita Dhulipala, was nominated in the Best Drama Series category.

The 2024 International Emmy Awards took place Monday night in New York, honoring the finest shows made outside of the United States, with nominees coming from 21 countries, per The Hollywood Reporter.

The night’s big winners were Apple TV+’s French-Japanese anime adaptation “Drops of God,” which won best drama series; Netflix’s Argentinian satire “División Palermo” winning best comedy series; Netflix’s German thriller “Liebes Kind” winning best limited series; Timothy Spall, who won best actor for the BBC’s crime drama “The Sixth Commandment;” and Aokbab-Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying, who won best actress for Netflix’s Thai chef drama “Hunger.”

Two honorary awards were given out during the ceremony, which was hosted by comedian Vir Das. French-Japanese drama series “Les Gouttes de Dieu [Drops of God],” Argentinian comedy series “División Palermo” and actor Timothy Spall were among the winners at the 52nd annual International Emmy Awards.

Hosted by stand-up comedian Vir Das, the ceremony took place Monday at the New York Hilton Midtown Hotel. This year, 21 countries were represented across 14 categories and 56 nominees.

During the evening, French actor Omar Sy presented the International Emmy Directorate Award to Gaumont CEO Sidonie Dumas, while writer and producer David E. Kelley received the International Emmys Founder Award from Michael Pressman.

The 52nd International Emmy Awards 2024 will soon be held in New York today (November 25). The occasion will be historic of sorts since Indian actor-comedian Vir Das will be hosting the event. This will make him the first Indian to host the prestigious award ceremony. The event will felicitate the TV shows produced and telecasted outside the US for the year of 2023. It is presented by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Iatas)

When And Where To Watch The International Emmy Awards In India?

The International Emmy Awards will be taking place in the New York Hilton Midtown, New York City. It will be telecasted between 5 pm and 11 pm (Est). At the same time, the fans in India can watch the award ceremony from 3:30 am to 9:30 am on Tuesday (November 26). The awards function will be available for streaming on iemmys.

Streaming giants are a force to be reckoned with in the race for the 52nd International Emmys, organized by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, as they approach the awards on Nov. 25 in New York.

Nominees for drama series include Season 2 of Prime Video’s Argentine thriller “Yosi, the Regretful Spy,” based on the real story of an Argentine police agent who infiltrates a Jewish community. Also nominated is Disney+ Hotstar’s Indian remake of BBC/AMC’s John le Carré adaptation “The Night Manager,” about a corrupt and dangerous arms dealer.

They compete alongside Apple TV+’s “Drops of God,” adapted from a manga series, about the estranged daughter of a French wine expert who must compete with her father’s Japanese protégé in a series of tests; and Season 2 of Prime Video’s “The Newsreader,” about the cut-throat world of Australian news media in the 1980s.

Just days after the 2024 Primetime Emmys were handed out, we have the nominees for the 52nd International Emmy Awards. See the full list of 14 categories below.

The shows vying for the Drama Series prize are Australia’s The Newsreader, Argentina’s Yosi, the Regretful Spy, France’s Drops of God and India’s The Night Manager. Three of those countries also are in the running for the Comedy Series prize as Australia’s Deadloch, Argentina’s División Palermo, France’s Hpi — whose American remake High Potential premiered on ABC this week — battle South Korea’s Daily Dose of Sunshine.

Argentina also is in the running for the Arts Programming award with Virgilio, alongside Poland’s Piano Forte, the UK’s Robbie Williams and Japan’s Who I Am Life. Winners will pick up their hardware November 25 at the International Emmy Awards Gala in New York City.

Buenos Aires – Mafalda, the beloved and wily six-year-old drawn into acclaim by celebrated Argentine artist Quino, will bring her socially-conscious hijinks to the screen. News of the adaptation, which will be ushered in by Oscar-winner Juan José Campanella, was announced Monday evening as Netflix unveiled their 2024 ‘Made in Argentina’ slate to a spirited crowd of industry and media professionals.

Campanella will direct, produce and showrun the project, while Gastón Gorali co-pens and acts as general producer of the Netflix Original series and Sergio Fernández boards as production director. Netflix and Campanella and Gorali’s Mundoloco CGI, the studio behind “Metegol,” the largest Latin American animated production to date, produce.

“Mafalda and her friends not only made me laugh a lot, but from time to time, they sent me to the dictionary. And each new word I learned came with the reward of a new laugh,” Campanella revealed in a July statement.

“News of a Kidnapping,” created by Andrés Wood and Rodrigo García, has picked up more recognition at the Rose d’Or Latinos. The dramatic series, which won a Platino Award last April for best dramatic series, added to its collection of prizes at the inaugural event held at Content Americas in Miami on Jan. 23.

The Latin American extension of Europe’s Rose d’Or Awards, led by jury chairman, Mas Ros Media CEO Marcos Santana, doled out prizes across television, feature films, unscripted content and podcasts.

Prime Video took home the most statuettes at the event, an encouraging sign of its growing cachet with talent across the region. Cecilia Mato and Lucas Vivo García Lagos, founder of Navajo Films Argentina and Intro Pictures Brazil, have joined forces to launch Navajo Films Uruguay.

“We interpret the idea of ‘bringing a fresh perspective to the industry’ as infusing new ideas, creativity and a unique approach into our work. Despite being two young individuals, we bring a wealth of experience to the table. Our goal is to produce IP that resonates with us as viewers,” said Mato, previously at Salado.

“Our country has immense creative potential and we are committed to contributing to the development of the local and international audiovisual industry. The partnership with our colleagues in Brazil and Argentina allows us to explore new creative frontiers,” she added.

Mato also opened up about two projects accompanying the launch, starting with “Menem,” exploring the life and legacy of former Argentine president Carlos Menem.

Community Squad (División Palermo) is an Argentine series starring Santiago Korovsky, Ignacio Gaggero, Martín Garabal and Martina López Robol.

Community Squad is a “stupid” comedy of insignificant characters, urban and without a future that somehow find their place in a lightweight and entertaining proposal.

This is a series that only wishes to be entertaining and fun.

If you like this Argentinian humor of situations that are rather absurd and “street” characters… a little like Full Monty, with that blend of social realism and an ironic tendency to laugh at their own existence… you will find this entertaining.

This is a likeable series because of the characters that is deeply Argentinian and laughs about that precisely for that reason.
