As such, it has promoted Jesse Daniels to SVP, Development and Current. Daniels created, developed and executive produced the first installment of Bunim/Murray’s Emmy-nominated Surviving R Kelly. He also exec produced parts two and three of the Lifetime series and was behind The Life and Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson, also for Lifetime.

He has been charged with leading the company’s expanded efforts in the genre.

Daniels, who reports to Julie Pizzi, President & CEO, Bunim/Murray Productions, has been with the company since 2017 and is also an exec producer on Confessions of Octomom. He previously developed international documentary series Take A Chance...

Exclusive: More people are watching women’s sports than ever before, and Bunim/Murray Productions is betting that interest extends beyond the court or field.

The production company behind shows like Vanderpump Villa is collaborating with Sue Bird’s media company Togethxr to develop an untitled docuseries that takes viewers behind-the-scenes and into the lives of the top female athletes in the United States.

The docuseries, executive produced by Bird and Megan Rapinoe, will follow athletes from the WNBA, Nwsl, Pwhl and more, along with their families, wives, girlfriends, partners and even their situationships.

The two companies plan to shop the docuseries to potential buyers soon.

Fox is staying in the survival business.

The network, which airs Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test, has ordered another survival competition series – Extracted.

Giving few details about the show, the network said “for the first time ever, the contestants are not in charge of their destiny”.

It comes from Sony Pictures Television’s B17 Entertainment, Sylvester Stallone’s Balboa Productions and Fox Entertainment.

B17 was founded by Brien Meagher and Rhett Bachner and is behind series such as Roku’s Thanks A Million and Netflix’s History of Swear Words.

Stallone’s Balboa, which has a first-look deal with Amazon Studios, is known for its scripted TV and movies including Paramount+’s Tulsa King and features including Scavenger Hunt and Lost On a Mountain In Maine. It is also behind Stallone’s reality series The Family Stallone.

The stunt gone wrong occurred during a scene in which Stallone got tackled by co-star and WWE legend Steve Austin. It left Stallone with dislocated shoulders and a fractured neck that have since required seven back surgeries and counting. Stallone needed a metal plate inserted into his neck and spinal fusions.

Updated, 2/5: Hulu has dropped an extended teaser from Vanderpump Villa, a new unscripted confection that takes place at Lisa Vanderpump’s luxury French villa.

The show, which is coming in the spring of 2024, follows Vanderpump’s hand-picked staff as they live and work together to navigate every extravagant desire of their well-to-do guests. It’s love at first class for Riverdale’s Camila Mendes and Shadow and Bone alum Archie Renaux in a new trailer for the upcoming rom-com Upgraded, premiering Friday, Feb. 9 on Prime Video.

The film follows Ana Santos (played by Mendes), a “smart and ambitious art enthusiast with dreams of running her own gallery” who is currently paying her dues as an unpaid trainee for a premiere New York auction house run by the influential and demanding Claire Dupont (Marisa Tomei),” per the official synopsis.

Bunim/Murray Productions has teamed up with Candace Bushnell, whose book served as the basis for the long-running HBO hit, to develop Is There Still Sex in the City.

The Banijay Americas-owned producer will take out the project to potential buyers next month.

They’ll live together in a cozy country chateau where they’ll have their pick of a different group of men in each episode. There’s change on the high seas of Banijay.

Christian Sarabia, President of 51 Minds Entertainment, the production company behind Bravo hit Below Deck, is stepping down from the Banijay Americas-owned business.

Julie Pizzi, President of fellow Banijay-backed firm Bunim/Murray, will add overseeing 51 Minds to her responsibilities running the Real World producer.

It is the latest change for the group; earlier this year, Cris Abrego, who founded 51 Minds, stepped down as CEO of Banijay Americas with Ben Samek taking over that role and Abrego remaining as Chairman. There’s been much speculation about Abrego’s own role in recent months.

Sarabia has been with 51 Minds for many years, having produced series such as The Surreal Life and Flavor of Love. He took the reins at the company in 2014 after Abrego became one of the top execs at the-then titled Endemol North America and the departure of co-founder Mark Cronin.

Artist-turned-actor Sylvester Stallone will have a retrospective of his original paintings and art pieces at the Toronto Film Festival, starting today.

The exhibit with mixed-media art, writings and memorabilia by the Rocky and Expendables star will run throughout TIFF, leading up to the world premiere of Netflix’s Stallone documentary Sly that is set to close the Toronto festival on Sept. 16 with a gala screening.

The Bell Lightbox exhibit features 12 original paintings and art pieces created by Stallone from 1975 to 2020. Most are abstract, with vivid paintbrush swirls enveloping images of boxers and commentary on Hollywood fame and royalty. One work, Family Ties, depicts a pregnant mother and a distant father and illustrates the artist’s use of a limited color palette of black, white and red.

A slow-down of greenlights amid cost cutting within all of the major media conglomerates, and seemingly no bump from the writers and actors strike despite what many were expecting, has led to doom and gloom across the non-scripted sector.

Deadline understands that companies including Bunim/Murray, Half-Yard Productions and Propagate Content have all cut staff recently and more are expected to follow suit. ITV America-backed High Noon Entertainment informed its local production staff in Denver that due to production cycles, the number of workers contracted when shows weren’t in production would be reduced. We hear Hot Snakes Media is in a similar situation.
