“Half Man,” the upcoming six-episode HBO and BBC drama from Richard Gadd that reps the follow-up to his wildly successful Emmy winner “Baby Reindeer” (which ran on Netflix), has rounded out its cast. Joining Gadd and co-star Jamie Bell will be Mitchell Robertson, Stuart Campbell, Neve McIntosh and Marianne McIvor, among others.

Gadd and Bell play estranged “brothers” Ruben and Niall, respectively, in the series, which has now started filming on location in Scotland. Robertson (“Curfew”) will play a young Niall, while Campbell (“Rogue Heroes”) plays a young Ruben. McIntosh (“Doctor Who”) will play Lori, Niall’s mother, while McIvor (“Lady Chatterley’s Lover”) will play Maura, Ruben’s mother.

Exclusive: Paramount+ is launching a service in Turkey with beIN Media Group, bringing movies including Transformer: Rise of the Beasts and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning and series The Agency, Elsbeth and the NCIS franchise.

Paramount Global Content Distribution cut the deal with beIN, which will see the rollout of what it refers to as branded destination in Turkey. Specifically, the Paramount+ service will be carried on beIN’s Ott platforms Tod and beIN Connect.

It will have films from Paramount Pictures and Republic Pictures, series from CBS Studios, and premium dramas from Showtime. The news dropped at the London TV Screenings, where Paramount Global is rolling out the red carpet for buyers, today.

Former Lionsgate sales veteran Wendy Reeds and seasoned producer Ashley Stern have joined Patrick Wachsberger’s growing production and sales outfit 193, as the company looks to build out its indie film slate. The hires were unveiled on Friday, the opening day of Berlin’s European Film Market.

Reeds, who spent 16 years at Lionsgate and previously worked alongside Wachsberger when he served as motion picture group chairman there, steps in as executive vp of sales. During her Lionsgate tenure, she handled international licensing for major franchises, including John Wick and The Hunger Games, while also spearheading the studio’s expansion into Asia through partnerships with Hunan TV and iQIYI.

Patrick Wachsberger and Legendary Entertainment’s new Jv has made two key hires. Wendy Reeds has joined 193 as EVP, sales, and Ashley Stern is aboard as EVP, Head of Creative Affairs.

193 was announced in late January, with former Lionsgate exec Wachsberger as CEO. “Wendy and Ashley are two of the industry’s best and bringing them aboard at this juncture makes me even more confident about what 193 can achieve,” he said. “There is an exceptional opportunity for 193 in the global production and sales marketplace to create an industry-leading slate of premium films for audiences all over the world.”

193 will develop and produce a slate and as well as working with third parties on international distribution for completed films. It will also provide capital and be across territory sales for early-stage projects.

Reeds spent 16 years with Lionsgate, overlapping for nearly a decade with Wachsberger, who was Chairman of the studio’s Motion Picture Group.

Jonathan Swift’s classic satirical adventure ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ is getting a contemporary reimagining for the small screen.

Well, I’m here for it because – when done right – there’s nothing cooler than dropping into the world of espionage. One of my favorite shows of 2024 was “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” (even if things got a little weird at the end), and now, with the release of Apple TV+’s “Prime Target,” I thought it a great idea to count down the best new (meaning first season only) spy/espionage thrillers from the last year that you can stream right now. One episode of Dexter: Original Sin has been released per week on both Paramount+ with Showtime and Showtime since the day of its premiere. However, the tables have turned on Jan. 17 for what should have been the release of episode 7 this week.

To sustain viewers’ excitement and Dexter’s joy of killing, Dexter: Original Sin has some other plans. Unfortunately, episode 7 of the show, named “The Big Bad Body Problem” is not airing this Friday on Paramount+ with Showtime or this Sunday on Showtime.

As such, while some watching Michael Fassbender's new spy series could more or less know where things are headed, I'm in the dark as to what the original series showcased in its first season finale and subsequent seasons. I preferred it that way to be able to judge The Agency on its own, and episode 9 has set up a finale I can't wait for.

“Kneecap” — the Irish-language music biopic that became one of the buzziest indie films of 2024 and is now tipped for both Oscar and BAFTA recognition — has, perhaps unsurprisingly, emerged far ahead of the pack of nominees for the 2025 Irish Film & TV Academy (IFTA) awards.

Rich Peppiatt’s raucous comedy, about (and starring) the Belfast rap trio of the same name, has landed an astonishing 17 nominations for the awards, including best film, director, three of the six slots for lead actor, three of the six for supporting actress and one for Michael Fassbender in the supporting actor category.

“Small Things Like These,” the considerably quieter Irish drama fronted (and produced) by Cillian Murphy has nine nominations, including lead actor for Murphy, who won the award last year for “Oppenheimer.”

Having been co-produced by Irish company Tailored Films, Ali Abbasi’s Donald Trump biopic “The Apprentice” is also in the mix, with four nominations.

Nominations are out for the 2025 Irish Film & Television Awards with the Cillian Murphy drama Small Things Like These and the music comedy Kneecap among the tipped films. Scroll down for the full list of nominees.

Small Things Like These has nods in Best Screenplay, Lead Actor for Murphy, and Best Film. Other Best Film nominees include Donald Trump biopic The Apprentice, King Frankie, and Kneecap.

Kneecap has a strong showing across the noms, with nods in Best Director for Rich Peppiatt and all three of the film’s leads pop up in Best Actor. Paul Mescal also received a Best Actor nomination for his role in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II.

On the TV side, Sharon Horgan’s Bad Sisters is nominated for Best Drama while the Eddie Redmayne thriller The Day of the Jackal has multiple noms, including Best Director for a Drama Series.

Ever since his Carol director, Todd Haynes, endorsed his casting to First Cow filmmaker Kelly Reichardt in 2018, Magaro has been working like there’s no tomorrow. You can currently find him on the big screen in Tim Fehlbaum’s September 5, as well as on the small screen in the George Clooney-produced series, The Agency. He also has two films on the festival circuit this year before he’s set to appear in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride! this fall. If that wasn’t enough, he just wrapped The Mastermind, his third movie with Reichardt in the last handful of years.

Magaro’s work ethic is a byproduct of growing up in Northeast Ohio, a region that’s “used to disappointment,” as he once put it.
