Season 2 of HBO’s The Last of Us comes out on April 13, 2025. Season 2 will follow the game so we can expect to be introduced to Abby Anderson and her story. With Kaitlyn Dever taking on the role, the series has the opportunity to expand on one key aspect of her backstory that was cut from Naughty Dog’s second game.
The first season was a big success we’re hyped for Season 2. | Image Credit: HBO
According to Laura Bailey, who voiced Abby in the game, there was a deleted flashback revealing Abby’s history with Wlf leader Isaac Dixon. The scene would’ve given us more context into their relationship and explained why he was so forgiving of her betrayal. Let’s hope it makes it to Season 2.
Abby’s story will be a big part of The Last of Us Season 2 And this cut content would add a lot of weight to it.

John Magaro is the kind of actor you discover, like a personal secret. Maybe he first caught your eye in The Big Short, as the geeky stand out among a pack of slick, self-interested traders; grabbed you as Yael Stone’s dreamy prison pen pal in Orange Is the New Black love story, or won you over as Arthur, in Celine Song’s Past Lives, as the husband on the outside looking in as his wife Nora (Greta Lee) reunites and rekindles with her childhood friend from Korea. I first spotted him playing a New Jersey drummer desperate to make it big in David Chase’s Not Fade Away (2012), but my come-to-Magaro moment was his performance as Cookie in Kelly Reichardt’s First Cow. His quietly devastating depiction of male friendship and quiet yearning was the on-screen standout of 2019.
More recently, Magaro has been getting attention for Oscar contender September 5, where he plays a U.

Right now, Apple TV+ has some of the best original series in the streaming space, and one of its most recent hits is the thriller series Prime Target. In the series, The White Lotus and One Day breakout Leo Woodall stars as a math genius who finds himself at the center of a dangerous global conspiracy when his research on prime numbers puts a target on his back.
While the show hasn't attained the overwhelming watercooler status of its streamer mate Severance, Prime Target has ranked just below the twisty sci-fi thinker on Apple TV+'s most popular shows leaderboard. It's received mixed reception for its slower pace, but Prime Target has still been one of the more engaging and interesting new series of 2025 so far.
If you're enjoying the series, which nears its season-ending episode in March 2025, you're probably wanting to add more shows just like it to your watch list.

[This article contains major spoilers from the season finale of The Agency, “Overtaken by Events.”]
The season one finale of The Agency ends with Michael Fassbender’s Martian in nearly the same emotional space as he was when the show began: longing to be reunited with Dr. Samia Zahir (Jodie Turner-Smith), the Sudanese anthropology professor he fell in love with while stationed as a CIA operative in Ethiopia.
However, their inability to be together is no longer just a matter of distance and duty to one’s country, as it once was when Martian ended their relationship upon returning to his post in London to resume life under the cover of Paul Lewis. It’s now one of life and death, as Martian’s failed attempt to recruit Samia to the CIA has not only put her life in danger but also his own when he agrees to become a double agent for the U.K.’s Secret Intelligence Service...

The intense spy thriller series on Paramount+, The Agency, ends its 1st season with a satisfying and riveting conclusion, as the main conflicts in the story are resolved, and hints about the futures of the characters are presented. The series had begun with the protagonist, codenamed Martian, reeling from the effects of being suddenly pulled out of his undercover CIA assignment in Ethiopia, particularly struggling to maintain his romantic relationship with Dr. Samia Zahir, which he had developed under his covert identity. Then, in episode 9, it seemed like Martian had completely disregarded the dangerous situation that his beloved Sami was in, as he chose to be loyal to his country and the government. Finally, in this week’s episode 10, Martian’s true feelings for Sami are revealed, along with the fates of Daniela and the missing undercover agent, Coyote. [Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “The Agency” Season 1, Episode 10, “Overtaken By Events.”]
The finale of “The Agency,” Showtime’s espionage thriller from writers John-Henry and Jez Buttersworth, opens on Michael Fassbender concealing his face. The man they call Martian is revving up his motorcycle, so he pushes down his black helmet and slides the visor shut over his eyes. In the moment, it’s a practical matter, but later, when he’s struck by a passing car and thrown from his bike, the habitual safety choice becomes another stark reminder of what’s at stake for our lovelorn spy: If he wants to survive, he has to hide his identity. Always. Without fail.

Jonathan Swift’s classic satirical adventure ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ is getting a contemporary reimagining for the small screen.
Emmy and BAFTA-winning writer Tom Bidwell (“Watership Down”) has created and written a new six-part TV series — entitled “The Gullivers” — and is working alongside producers Xavier Marchand and Casey Herbert for Moonriver TV and Leo Becker for Federation Studios.
The fantasy adventure series is in development with a major European broadcaster, according to the producers, and follows on the heels of Moonriver’s recent series “Nautilus,” inspired by Jules Verne’s “Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea,” currently on Amazon Prime in the U.K., Stan in Australia and France 2 and awaiting rollout by AMC in the U.S. Federation is no stranger to Verne’s universe either, having previously adapted “Around the World in 80 Days” for Masterpiece PBS, BBC and the European Alliance.

With the success of Slow Horses and The Agency, we’ve seen a large influx of espionage shows coming to TV. Prime Target, from producer Ridley Scott and creator Steve Thompson, hopes to capture the same magic as each of those shows. With two young stars, Leo Woodall and Quintessa Swindell, the series could easily become another breakout hit for Apple TV+. Unfortunately, overuse of technical exposition and frustratingly detached characters turn Prime Target into a slog.

From espionage to action sequences, these shows bring fresh stories to the genre.
Spy thriller TV shows have had a nice resurgence of late with a new one seeming to appear every month. Well, I’m here for it because – when done right – there’s nothing cooler than dropping into the world of espionage. One of my favorite shows of 2024 was “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” (even if things got a little weird at the end), and now, with the release of Apple TV+’s “Prime Target,” I thought it a great idea to count down the best new (meaning first season only) spy/espionage thrillers from the last year that you can stream right now. Let’s get to it!

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for The Agency episode 8I have to preface this review by saying that, while I am aware that The Agency is based on a successful French TV series, Le Bureau des Légendes, I have never watched the original. As such, while some watching Michael Fassbender's new spy series could more or less know where things are headed, I'm in the dark as to what the original series showcased in its first season finale and subsequent seasons. I preferred it that way to be able to judge The Agency on its own, and episode 9 has set up a finale I can't wait for.
The Agency is a 2024 espionage thriller following covert CIA agent Martian, who is recalled to London Station, disrupting his undercover life. As a former romance rekindles, Martian's career and true identity are jeopardized, leading him into a high-stakes world of international intrigue and deception.

“Kneecap” — the Irish-language music biopic that became one of the buzziest indie films of 2024 and is now tipped for both Oscar and BAFTA recognition — has, perhaps unsurprisingly, emerged far ahead of the pack of nominees for the 2025 Irish Film & TV Academy (IFTA) awards.
Rich Peppiatt’s raucous comedy, about (and starring) the Belfast rap trio of the same name, has landed an astonishing 17 nominations for the awards, including best film, director, three of the six slots for lead actor, three of the six for supporting actress and one for Michael Fassbender in the supporting actor category.
“Small Things Like These,” the considerably quieter Irish drama fronted (and produced) by Cillian Murphy has nine nominations, including lead actor for Murphy, who won the award last year for “Oppenheimer.”
Having been co-produced by Irish company Tailored Films, Ali Abbasi’s Donald Trump biopic “The Apprentice” is also in the mix, with four nominations.

September 5 star John Magaro knows he’s had a charmed run the last five years, but his Cleveland-area upbringing won’t let him get too comfortable.
Ever since his Carol director, Todd Haynes, endorsed his casting to First Cow filmmaker Kelly Reichardt in 2018, Magaro has been working like there’s no tomorrow. You can currently find him on the big screen in Tim Fehlbaum’s September 5, as well as on the small screen in the George Clooney-produced series, The Agency. He also has two films on the festival circuit this year before he’s set to appear in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride! this fall. If that wasn’t enough, he just wrapped The Mastermind, his third movie with Reichardt in the last handful of years.
Magaro’s work ethic is a byproduct of growing up in Northeast Ohio, a region that’s “used to disappointment,” as he once put it.
