Episode #2.2

Annika and her team investigate the death of a recently released prisoner, who's body is pulled out of The River Forth. Tyrone pushes for his promotion, whilst Blair is treated with kid gloves.

Solid, I'm not sure I can say this had me on the edge of my seat, but solid and watchable nonetheless.

A pretty good story, with an imaginative outcome and a pretty tense, somewhat gritty conclusion, although they could have made it a bit more perilous for the team.

I didn't find the daughter's story all that interesting if I'm honest, I couldn't see much peril in that particular situation.

The comedy club made for a good setting, and there were a couple of nice, humorous lines, seeing Annika made to go up on stage was great, Nicola Walker once again was terrific.

Some shows take a while to warm up but Annika just seems to get less and less watchable. Somehow the cast transmit a kind of vibe that creates in me a complete lack of interest in any of the characters. Then the murders are paint by numbers predictable and the talking at the camera by Annika further reduces any investment into believing the story.

The daughters sub-story addition to this episode was like a useless filler and pretty ridiculous. I gave season 2 a go but the especially lack lustre ending to this episode was so unfunny and undramatic that it made me smirk like Annija at a dead person's corpse.
