Epica have announced their ninth studio album, Aspiral, arriving April 11th via Nuclear Blast Records. The video for the new single and LP opener “Cross the Divide” can be streamed now.
The upbeat track is a glorious exercise in symphonic prog metal, combining catchy riffs with bouncy keys and an air of classical decadence. Singer Simone Simons — a master of this style — plays both frontwoman and narrator, as if in an opera.
It’s the second single from Aspiral, with the band’s 2024 track “Arcana” also included on the tracklist. The 11-song album was recorded at Sandlane Studios with producer/mixing engineer Joost van den Broek and features striking artwork by Hedi Xandt.
Regarding the album title, Epica took the name from a work by Polish sculptor and painter Stanisław Szukalski: a 1965 bronze sculpture entitled Aspiral, which stands for renewal and inspiration.

Thanks to the world’s boundless appreciation for Robin Williams, old clips of the late comedian tend to go viral every so often — whether it’s a depressing deleted scene from Mrs. Doubtfire, or an old outtake of Williams improvising with Sesame Street’s Elmo.
The latest piece of Williams footage to capture the internet’s attention finds him relentlessly riffing while an exasperated commercial director tries to get the actor to perform just one simple line. Williams does an assortment of goofy voices, physical shtick and ultimately concludes the video by proclaiming, “I realized I was a heavy drinker when I woke up nude on the hood of my car with my keys in my ass.”
Meanwhile an off-screen voice bemoans: “Can we get another actor in, please?”
The post is slightly misleading; this isn’t the case of Williams sparring with “a director that had no sense of humor.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare‘s soft reboot has had its fair share of ups and downs since it was released. Some love it for the visuals and the reworked characters in the game; others, not really. But Activision missed one who was pivotal to the game.
There wasn’t a great amount of screentime for the iconic Captain MacMillan in the popular military shooter. Him, alongside Price, may have failed to blow Zakhaev’s brain in Pripyat, but he did blow fans’ minds away.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Ignored the Og
Barry Sloane’s Captain Price in Modern Warfare is most certainly gathering intel on things from him. The man, the myth, the legend. This is what I think of MacMillan whenever I think of the soft reboot of the franchise.

A scene from Discovery Channel’s ‘Mud Wild’
Discovery Channel’s adding Mud Wild, America’s Backyard Gold, Caught! Wild and Weird America, and Eye of the Storm to its lineup during the first half of 2024. Big Little Brawlers and Hustlers Gamblers Crooks debuted earlier this month, and Vegas Tow and a still-untitled series about survivalists in South America round out the new shows premiering soon.
“Each of our new series are character-driven stories that tap into America’s mainstream obsessions,” said Howard Lee, President of Discovery Networks. “These shows will connect with our audiences as they are grounded in authentic lifestyles where people live out their passions to find success.”
The network released the following descriptions for its slate of new shows:
America’S Backyard Gold: There’s an estimated $3 trillion in gold still waiting to be found in America — and there’s no need for expensive equipment and huge investment to get it.

Discovery Channel’s hit franchises, like “Gold Rush” and “Deadliest Catch,” featured plenty of blood and sweat. But where were the tears? That’s something Howard Lee immediately began asking, upon taking control of the network at the end of 2022.
After Lee was handed the keys to Discovery that December, “I spent my entire Christmas vacation devouring, scrutinizing, every single Discovery Channel show and familiarizing myself with it, like a fanboy. And looking at, of course, the ratings for each one and the budgets.”
As head of TLC, Lee helped grow the network to new heights thanks to blockbuster franchises like “90 Day Fiancé,” where emotion was his bread and butter. But after his crash course in Discovery fare, Lee felt that the flagship network could do a better job of creating programming that its audience found viscerally enthralling.

From the very first second of Eye Of The Storm, the urgency is felt. A doctor trying to get out of the hospital earlier than he actually should just to be with his daughter on her birthday is an interesting opening scene to have. While you can’t help but appreciate the man’s love for his little girl, you can’t also root for him as he clearly neglects one of his patients in order to get out of work early. In a world that has experienced a full-blown pandemic for almost two years, this movie actually feels very relevant. And it is made in such a way that the audience actually feels the anxiety throughout the runtime. Especially the opening half hour is particularly designed in a way that you get drawn inside the world of it and feel exactly how the characters are feeling—anxious, confused, and panicked.
