First-rate cast at the top of their game shine in stunning scenery, as chuckles and belly-laughs blend with melancholia and bittersweet tears in this heartwarming feel-good feature from first time director, the exotically-named Roubaix. David Mason is outstanding in the title role, completely winning over the audience in a gentle and whimsical performance that is completely endearing. Linda Dootson as his potential soulmate Rose is no less impressive, their budding relationship is a genuine delight, and one really feels for their predicament. The supporting cast are all given their moment in the spotlight, Sheridan Sinclair particularly is an absolute hoot, playing against type as the wonderous Wayne. One comes away from the movie with their cockles firmly warmed, and the absolute message, sad but true... that life really IS too short. Climb that mountain, while you can.
