Actually in the first place Finnish actor Kai Portman agreed to play the role of Cowboy Bob, only when he got tested positive for corona virus director Pablo Knappe Rodriguez spontaneously exchanged him with the far younger actor Diego Marqués. Obviously this change in actor comes with a great dramatic change as well, as the role of Barb's lover Cowboy Bob now is a teenage boy rather than a 60 year old man.
They could't shoot the confession scenes in Estonia, because Estonia doesn't really have a catholic population and therefore no confession booths. So they shot those scenes two months later in Munich, Germany.
