Coming Home

I haven't had this much fun with a Walking Dead series since the early days of the main show. This episode truly had it all: suspense, cool zombies, emotional scenes, love, the most amazing cinematography, the most perfect song to end the show ever! And, of course, a nice surprise at the end.

Everything about this series is near perfection. The costuming is appropriate & cool & sexy. The set design is stunning. The locations they used are incredibly gorgeous. Everything about the cinematography is well thought out and breathtaking. The lighting they use & weather they utilize or fabricate really adds to the story.

This episode's storyline included a piece of our history with France, and that was very moving and touching. An excellent, special acknowledgment. The connection with Daryl's family and our history with France was nice to see.

The characters & actors are interesting & so talented. Walking Dead has always had a knack for getting us to invest in characters, whether we love them or hate them.

The icing on the cake in this episode for me was the song it ended on. I am a huge old U2 fan and the lyrics and the song they used could not have been any more perfect! (I'm going to go listen to their War album again.) It was a very nice and fun surprise!

I am very excited about the next season and I really hope it doesn't take too long for them to air it. But I wouldn't be surprised if we would have to wait a year!

Now that Daryl Dixon finished I can officially say that The Walking Dead just reborn. The quality is the finest, the storylines are intriguing and the writing as well as the directing is exceptional. I've been rewatching the main show while following Daryl's adventures and I must say the visuals, the pacing have never been this good yet. As for the character moments and the action scenes, they are just as good or even better. Daryl Dixon introduced a new threat as the season unfolded and it's nothing like the ones we've seen before. The final episode landed greatly and this series made Twd televison's #1 show again. My expectations are high for The Ones Who Live after this. I predict a lot of viewers will be back.

I still haven't actually brought myself to watch the last couple of episodes of the actual "The Walking Dead" series - and I've all but decided to go back to the start of that run and do them again. Until I get round to that though I have decided to crack on with the spin offs. I enjoyed this, though I'm glad we're treating it more like a mini-series rather than a full twenty episodes a year run.

Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) washes up on the shores of France. After an encounter with a paramilitary group, he's saved by Isabelle (Clemency Poesy) a nun who has a mission of her own. She wants to take Laurent (Louis Scigliuzzi), a young man whom she believes has an important spiritual role in the future, to Paris. He agrees on the understanding that once that mission is complete, she'll help him to Le Havre, where he can take a ship back to the States.

I mean largely it feels not unlike "The Walking Dead" which generally I think is a good thing, there's the casual violence - there's still the idea that the real problem is not from Zombie hordes, but from the Human's that have decided they are the leaders in this new world, and their unfettered actions. There a much more clear objective to the series though, it's not about staying alive only, it's about getting Laurent to Paris and in that sense has a tone and feeling similar to something like "The Last of Us".

Reedus has been great as Daryl since his arrival in the series in 2010 and he remains as loveable as ever here. He has another sort of 'will they, won't they' relationship with Laurent - which is as close as Daryl ever really seems to get to having a proper love interest.

I enjoyed the series, particularly the fact it didn't try and drag the story out with a bunch of filler episodes. I am looking forward to see what changes to the dynamic that the return of Carol adds for the second season.

Fantastic show, probably the best on TV! It's a pity I had to illegally stream as it not available in Ireland. Love the the nod to 28 days later with the song Paradisum being used. Norman Reedus has definitely proven how good an actor he is and should have been used alot more in the original show. The supporting cast are excellent also. It's also nice to see different directors getting a opportunity other than T. W. D usual suspects. Season 2 looks like its also going to be fantastic and it will be nice to see characters from the original show reunited. Hopefully the new "The Ones Who Live" will be as good.

Daryl destroys Genet's experiment with walkers in the arena, and then he is chained to Quinn, and they need to fight several hybrids to survive. They succeed and when Genet's Guerriers are ready to shoot them, Fallou Boukar and his men save them. Dary and Quinn flee, but Daryl notes that he was wounded by a walker. Quinn makes an ultimate sacrifice for saving Isabelle and Daryl finds Isabelle and Laurent. They travel with Sylvie using an old truck to the Nest. However, the car stops and while Daryl is fixing the truck, Stéphane Codron and four Guerriers arrive but a miracle happens. They reach the Nest and Losang arranges a boat to take Daryl back to United States. However, something happens, and Daryl now has to take a decision.

"Coming Home" is another almost excellent episode of "The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon". Again, Laurent is responsible for this downgrade. The attitude of Stéphane Codron surprises and is a great twist in the show. The cameo of Carol in the end of the episode seems to indicate that she will participate in the next season. Probably, Daryl will stay in France to resolve the situation with the evil Genet. My vote is eight.
