I think this film touches something that many boys who grew up gay can connect with. Innocence on the cusp of sexuality.
A little boy, fascinated by the charming, handsome father of a friend at a family beach vacation. The boy becomes lost in fantasies about the grown up. Not really sexual fantasies, but a mysterious attraction. A hidden desire. A wish.
The boy wants something, perhaps ambiguous, of the man.
There is desire burgeoning in the young boy that belies or contradicts his childlike innocence.
I thought the film worked very well to capture the undercurrents of longing in children, before they even know what the longing is.

A simple, touching, precise and gentle, in same measure portrait of fascination of a ten years old boy for the father of one of friends. Summer, near the sea. A camping. A stolen swimming trunks, dreams and something very ambiguous at early age, a mix of love, fascination, attraction, mistery, image of perfect father and need to escape. Nice, admirable crafted and charming.
