Karachi, March 13: Ali Zafar has said that his latest film 'Total Siyapaa' is a comedy with a cause.

The 33-year-old actor said that he has done some global projects where his character is based abroad, but he personally thinks it's a coincident that his character is from Pakistan in E. Niwas' film, the Express Tribune reported.

He said that the reason behind doing 'Total Siyapaa' was simply because the film deals with much more than a romance between a Pakistani boy and an Indian girl and he felt that the story looked towards addressing the generalized perception that Indians have of Pakistanis, and vice versa.

Total Siyapaa, a “meet the parents” type film with a political undertone, tells the tale of when Pakistani rock star Aman (Ali Zafar) meets British-Indian girlfriend Asha’s (Yami Gautam) family.

From the start of the film, it is made clear that their respective countries of origin will cause a problem for this couple – a problem spurred by the question of family acceptance.

So, let’s briefly begin with the issue.

To say that Pakistan and India, since the time of the tragic Partition of India, 1947, have seriously been at odds with one another is an understatement.

Picture this. The daughter of a family has a secret boyfriend whom she's about to introduce to the family. No big deal, right? But what if she is an Indian and he's a Pakistani?

Picking on this pert premise screenwriter Neeraj Pandey does a special 69 on cross-border politics. Borderline tensions are defused to the point until we see just the ludicrous futility of cultural bickering. It's a delicious idea to build a plot around.

Pandey derives inspiration from a Spanish film "Seres Queridos", in which the conflict between the Palestinian boy and his girlfriend's Jewish family was served in a feisty.

In theaters on Friday is Total Siyapaa starring Ali Zafar, Yami Gautam, Kirron and Anupam Kher. The comedy was written by Neeraj Pandey and directed by E.Niwas. Total Siyapaa is a hilarious tale of cross-border love told through the trials and tribulations of a young Pakistani boy who falls in love with an Indian girl, and travels to London to be with her. Along the way, he has to contend with that most formidable of adversary – the future mother-in-law. Aman’s life descends into ‘Total Siyapaa’ when he attempts, albeit unsuccessfully at first, to impress his future in-laws with hilarious and at times completely cringe-inducing consequences.

New Delhi, March 3: The screenplay of forthcoming Bollywood movie "Total Siyapaa" has been extended for a fictional romantic novel "The Sum of Two Wholes - Total Siyapaa".

Publishing house Harlequin India Monday announced the release of the novel, which is written by Neha Sharma.

Karachi, February 12: Ali Zafar has revealed that he is planning a massive premiere for his upcoming film 'Total Siyapaa' in Pakistan.

The 'London Paris New York' star said that people in Pakistan loved the promo of his romantic comedy film and are awaiting its release and added that if everything goes well he will plan a big premiere of the film along with an equally impressive countrywide release, the Express Tribune revealed.

Zafar added that he will be inviting Shahid Afridi to the premiere as he has comically mentioned him in one of the dialogues and hopes that the 33-year-old Pakistani cricketer will take it in good.

Mumbai, Jan 16: Pakistani singer-actor Ali Zafar and and Bollywood actress Yami Gautam starrer romantic comedy 'Total Siyapaa' will come out March 7.

Reliance Entertainment and Neeraj Pandey's Friday Filmworks have collaborated with &Pictures for the movie. The makers felt that March 7 is an appropriate date for the release of the film, said a statement.

Mumbai, Dec 27: Actor Ali Zafar has reacted to reports that Shahid Afridi has not taken a dialogue from the forthcoming film "Total Siyapaa" well. He says the Pakistani cricketer has not demanded any explanation.

The film's teaser shows Ali's character, a Pakistani boy trying to woo a Hindu girl with a dialogue that implies that Pakistanis are fed up with Afridi.

As an aftermath, it was reported that the allrounder had demanded an explanation for this.

Mumbai, Nov 26: Pakistani singer-turned-actor Ali Zafar, who is gearing up for his next Bollywood venture "Total Siyappa", says the audiences in his home country as well as India are going to relish and cherish the romantic comedy.

"Whenever we talk about India and Pakistan, people get very sensitive, but this film has balanced it in a very light way. Every person in Pakistan will enjoy the film as much as people in India. The film will bring people closer," Ali told reporters at the "Total Siyapaa" trailer launch.

Directed by E. Nivas and written by Neeraj Pandey, "Total Siyappa" is the love story of a Pakistani guy (Ali).

For all those who drooled over the simply gorgeous Yaami Gautam in her debut film Vicky Donor, here is some good news for you. This young lady has now been invited to the Southern California Youth Convention which is scheduled for end of this year. The said convention is targeted at young adults - junior high and high school students. A source close to the event organizers said, "This year, the convention has 4 speakers from different walks of life. We are very keen to have Yaami as a part of the youth convention due to her growing popularity amongst Indian community here." On her film front, Yaami will soon be seen in the romantic comedy Total Siyappa alongside Ali Zafar.

A new “chaotic” romantic comedy starring Ali Zafar and Yami Gautam is set to hit theaters in January. Originally titled Aman ki Asha, the film is now titled Total Siyappa. Produced by esteemed actor Neeraj Pandey, the film is directed by E Niwas.

Apparently though the original title of the film was made of the of the character’s names, played by Ali Zafar and Yami Guatam, it just wasn’t getting the feeling or essence across of what the film is all about. Producer Neeraj Pandey said, “Yes we had earlier called the film Aman ki Asha as the boy’s name is Aman and girl’s name is Asha. But the film is more than that. So we have now changed it to a punjabi title, Total Siyappa.” Total Siyappa means total chaos and the new title suits the plot of the movie very accurately and also gives the idea of the storyline.

After being in Bollywood for almost 28 years, real life couple Anupam Kher and Kirron Kher will be seen together on the silver screen for the first time with the Neeraj Pandey's film Total Siyapaa (which was earlier called as Aman Ki Aasha), which stars Ali Zafar and Yami Gautam.

Talking about this couple's casting coup of sorts, producer Neeraj Pandey said that they will be seen playing husband-wife for the first time on screen. Anupam and Kirron will be playing an over-the-top Punjabi couple in the film.

The film is directed by E. Niwas.

Mumbai, May 12: Actress Yami Gautam, who made a successful transition to films from TV with "Vicky Donor", has completed shooting for her second movie "Aman Ki Aasha".

An Hindi remake of Spanish movie "Seres Queridos" ("Only Human"), the romantic comedy will see the 24-year-old teaming up with Pakistani singer-actor Ali Zafar.

"I have finished shooting for the film. We shot the entire film in London. It was a great crew and I am happy that I have made the right decision," Yami told Ians.

Directed by E. Niwas and produced by Neeraj Pandey, "Aman Ki Aasha" may come out during monsoon.

Mumbai, April 29: Actor-singer Ali Zafar, who began his Bollywood journey with comedy film "Tere Bin Laden", feels that actors don't get typecast in the Hindi film industry.

"I don't think actors get typecast in Bollywood. If you keep yourself open to various types of roles and genres, people will eventually get to see different sides to your performance," Ali told Ians.

Ali will now be seen in a romantic film "Aman Ki Aasha" opposite Yami Gautam.

The actor is currently enjoying the success of David Dhawan's "Chashme Buddoor", and he says he is busy touring the Us with concerts.

"It is great to see the response.

Mumbai, April 24: Pakistani actor Ali Zafar, who has wrapped up shooting for his Hindi film "Aman Ki Aasha", says it is a remake of a Spanish movie.

The 2004 Spanish film "Seres Queridos" ("Only Human") was a comic love story of a Jewish girl and a Palestinian boy, while the Hindi version has an Indo-Pak setting.

"It's about a Pakistani boy and an Indian girl. It's a romantic comedy. It's a remake of a Spanish film," Ali told Ians. Yami Gautam plays his love interest in the movie.

"The shoot for the film was completed in March. Yami was a great co-star to work with," he added.

Directed by E. Niwas, "Aman Ki Aasha".

Actor Ali Zafar took out time from filming Aman Ki Aasha in London to speak to Sunny Malik for BollySpice about his next release, Chashme Baddoor. Chashme Baddoor also stars Siddharth, Taapsee Pannu and Divyendu Sharma, Rishi Kapoor and Anupam Kher and is directed by David Dhawan.

What does the title Chashme Baddoor mean?

Chahsme Badoor relates to a woman’s beauty. It means that may the evil away be kept away. As you know the film is a remake of the 1981 film, of the same name. David Dhawan has directed the film.

Salman Khan and Govinda said that David often walks into the frame without saying cut. Did he do that during Chashme Baddoor?

Yes, he did (laughs). He feels a lot and gets very emotional. He sometimes would just walk into the frame because he is an old-school director and does not watch the monitor during a take.

Ali Zafar is currently in London filming Aman Ki Aasha. He managed to take a couple hours out from his busy schedule to talk to the media about upcoming David Dhawan re-make of Chashme Buddoor, which is due for release on 5th April.

Ali plays the character Siddharth Parashar, originally played by Farooq Shaikh. He has also sung some of the songs in the film.
