The story follows Aghathiyan, who becomes entangled in a conflict involving a skilled Siddha healer and a ruthless colonial officer, uncovering secrets that change everything.
Jiiva plays the role of Aghathiyan in this thriller-horror movie. He is well-suited for such roles and delivers a solid performance.
Arjun's portrayal of Siddharthan adds an intriguing dimension to the movie, and his performance proves that he can still play the lead role when the character is compelling.
Nizhalgal Ravi, known for his roles in horror films, delivers a strong supporting performance. Alongside him, Radha Ravi, Rohini, and Charlie also perform their roles convincingly.
The comedy doesn't work as expected, but the horror elements succeed in scaring the audience in certain scenes.

A Mythical Journey of Heart and Courage
In a cinematic landscape often dominated by predictable formulas, Aghathiyaa emerges as a refreshing and emotionally resonant adventure. Director K. Nithyanandam crafts a world steeped in ancient folklore and breathtaking visuals, taking audiences on a journey that is both mystical and deeply personal. The film is a masterclass in blending high-stakes fantasy with grounded human drama, anchored by a compelling performance from its lead.
The story follows the titular character, Aghathiyaa, a young man burdened with a sacred prophecy. He must embark on a perilous quest to uncover a lost artifact that holds the key to saving his village from an impending disaster. What could have been a generic hero's journey is elevated by a nuanced script that explores themes of fate, free will, and the weight of legacy. The supporting cast, particularly the enigmatic priestess played by Aditi Shankar, adds rich layers to the narrative, providing both wisdom and conflict.
Visually, Aghathiyaa is a feast for the eyes. The cinematography captures the raw beauty of the landscapes, from verdant forests to treacherous mountain peaks. The special effects are used judiciously, enhancing the mythical elements without overwhelming the story. The film's true soul, however, lies in its musical score. Composer Anirudh Ravichander delivers a powerful soundtrack that perfectly complements every scene, from moments of intense action to quiet reflection.
While the film's pacing sags slightly in the middle, it quickly recovers for a powerful and satisfying climax. Aghathiyaa is more than just a fantasy film; it's a poignant tale that reminds us of the strength we can find in tradition and the courage required to forge our own path. Excellent.

Pa. Vijay excels in the Colonial-era portions by highlighting the advantages of Siddha Medicine through punchlines. The fantasy elements, supported by satisfying computer graphics, add another layer to the film. While the first half of Aghathiyaa lags, the treatment of the second half saves the movie.
Overall, Aghathiyaa is a fun, one-time watch movie for entertainment.

I usually don't write reviews for movie but this movie made me to do.
This movie is blindly misleading, showcasing mythology as true facts but there's no proof shown. Showcasing blackhole as shiva linga made me laugh. We all know what is black hole exactly. And another, making believe Sidda medicine is true medicine, which lab proven medicine are useless. This movie maybe convincing for older generations cause of religious faith in this film but not for newer generations. They know what is true and myth.
Don't give money for old geeks for making movies like these, there are many talented directors out there. Give them a chance.
Don't watch this film for mental health.

A well curated horror mystery drama blending a mythological tale through a robust screenplay and engaging visuals.
The plot of the story revolves around Agathiyaa,a film production designer who hires an ancient bungalow for set work finds out there is a strange mystery surrounding the place and how he cracks it forms the crux of the story.
Pa Vijay has conceived the brilliant idea and has portrayed the story onto the screen leaving no loose ends. The filmmakers has synched romance, torture, humour, betrayal, horror and family emotions in the right ratio throughout the story keeping the audience engrossed to the screen. Pa Vijay has incorporated the ancient culture of the motherland, the pre independence era and the legacy of the forefathers through a flashback perfectly infusing with the storyline.
Impressive performances by Jiiva,Arjun Sarjaa,Shah Ra,Radha Ravi,Raashi Khanna & Matylda. Good shots by the DOP Dipak Kumar and editor San Lokesh in giving an engaging mystery tale. The Colorist,VFX team and the Art team also deserves appreciation for setting the horror mystery ambience in the haunted bungalow.
A good watchable horror entertainer with light humour elements through an engaging narrative.
