If the upcoming crime series at Amazon, “Criminal,” hasn’t piqued your interest yet, it should. Variety announced this week the two leads, Emilia Clarke and Luke Evans, and the project is shaping up quite nicely.

The series is based on the graphic novels by comics writers Ed Brubaker (creator of Marvel’s Winter Solider character) and Sean Phillips and is said to be about an interlocking, intergenerational story of families connected through shared criminal history.

The Prime Video series adaptation of Criminal, the Eisner Award-winning graphic novel series written by Ed Brubaker and illustrated by Sean Phillips, has been steadily building up its cast in recent weeks, and now Variety reports that the latest actor to join the ensemble is Luke Evans, whose credits include Fast & Furious 6, Beauty and the Beast, Dracula Untold, and the Hobbit films. For Criminal, Evans is taking on the role of “Tracy Lawless, who was pushed out of the outlaw life of his family (his father is the legendary Teeg Lawless and Ricky is his little brother) at the age of 18 when a judge gave him a choice of prison or the military. In the Army, Tracy thrived, his wild outlaw instincts getting funneled into the strict discipline of the military. He was placed into the Special Forces and trained to be an expert in covert operations and guerilla warfare.

Your Honor, which has been streaming on Paramount+ and Netflix, has found newfound success on top of its already record-breaking run on Showtime, and that leads to the question: Will there be a Season 3? Based on the graphic novel of the same name, Criminal is an upcoming thriller series in the works at Prime Video – and it’s just signed up Game Of Thrones and Last Christmas star Emilia Clarke in a leading role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Clarke will play a hardened criminal named Mallory, who’s “as quick with a gun as she is with her wits.”

Mallory is one half of a bank robbing duo, with her partner being the appropriately-named Ricky Lawless, played by Gus Halper.

“Mallory is a woman on the edge,” the plot description goes, “living on the wrong side of the law and hiding secrets that will bring her and her crew into the danger zone.”

Criminal is an interlocking universe of crime stories based on the multi-Eisner Award-winning graphic novel series created by Brubaker and Sean Phillips.

Evans will play Tracy Lawless. The 10-episode, streaming-only season featured the team – including David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster), and Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) – working a complex case involving a serial killer named Elias Voit (Zach Gilford).

While Criminal Minds: Evolution brought back most of the show’s core cast, a few familiar faces were missing.

Criminal has added to its cast. Per THR, Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) has joined Richard Jenkins, Adria Arjona, and Kadeem Hardison in the new crime drama. The series order was announced earlier this year in January.

Based on the graphic novel series by writer Ed Brubaker and artist Sean Phillips, the Prime Video series will feature a series of interlocking crime stories.

The series was originally ordered at Amazon back in January. Jenkins is the first confirmed cast member. The show is described as “an interlocking universe of crime stories” based on the graphic novels by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips.

Jenkins will play Ivan. The character is described as “Leo’s dad’s best friend, and has always been an uncle figure to him. He used to be a robber and criminal, but is now currently suffering from dementia. Leo is trying to care for him but realizes he’s more work than he can handle.”
