During the first robot-monster fight on the beach, the Admiral (not General as he is in the Navy), NASA scientist (who changes clothes), and Lt. go from being in the command center, to the flight deck of an Aircraft Carrier watching the F-18s take off, to a helicopter in flight.
The Admiral orders a battalion of Marines, but only 5 show up.
At 1:05:50, a character says Manhattan was not evacuated because the bridges got too tangled. The scene then cuts to a bridge showing very light traffic.
"Spit Fire" is clearly flying an F-18 Hornet for most of his encounter with the first monster. However, after firing his "50 cal," the aircraft that flies over the monster is an F-22 Raptor, as are the two aircraft flying overhead in the same shot. This is obvious due to the rectangular air inlets and the wider, more angled rear stabilizer fins.
In one shot, Rushing is seen wearing the visor, then not, shortly before they all put them on for the first time.
Only the President of the United States can order a nuclear strike.
A rail gun fires projectiles at high speed. It does not shoot out rays.
F-18 fighters do not have .50 caliber machine guns. They have a 20 mm Gatling Gun mounted.
The stealth bomber drops 11 bombs. They're dropped in pairs, which means 12 bombs were dropped. The plane can carry 8 bombs.
When the Marines go charging out to save Manhattan, there are only five of them plus a cop. One of the Marines is in a black outfit with polka dots of black camo paint on his face. None of them display any rank. They attack the giant monsters using only assault rifles. (Apparently all the other weapons were out for maintenance that day.)
When the guard takes Red to the holding cell room, Red's wrists are handcuffed behind his back. When Red is pushed into the room, his arms are above his head with no handcuffs. It is clearly inferred that the guard removes them.
The pilot and copilot of the stealth bomber wear different helmets.
Jim has a nose piercing in some close-ups.
Treach breaks the steel door knob by hitting it with a hammer. That can wreck the knob, but would have no effect on the lock itself.
After Red is arrested, he is put in a "holding cell" on the flightline. He should have been put in the base's security office, which would have a proper holding cell.
Red's robot falls to earth at a terminal velocity of 120 MPH (not counting the velocity from kicking the monster or the impact of the nuclear detonation). On impact, he appears out of the suit, on the grass, completely unharmed.
When Spit Fire first fires, two tracer lines appear, as if the plane had two cannons. The U.S. military hasn't used dual cannons since the Vietnam War.
Many of the military personnel wear woodland camo uniforms, which were not authorized for any branch of the military at the time.
The submarine launches out of the ocean and slams into the deck of the USS Enterprise CVN-65, which was inactivated and effectively rendered unusable in December 2012.
When "Spit Fire" attacks the first monster in his F/A-18 Hornet, he yells that he's "coming in with the 50's," referring to his .50 caliber machine gun. Hornets do not have .50 caliber machine guns, they are equipped with the M61A1 Vulcan rotary cannon. The weapon fired sounds nothing like the Vulcan.
The trio launch their second attack from a grass landing strip, not a Navy base.
The last monster is said to be heading ashore in Manhattan. However, when people run around in a panic, the buildings are clearly in Pensacola, Florida.
The three robot pilots don't serve on the carrier, so Red shouldn't know the fighter pilot's call sign.
The three robot pilots somehow know that a nuke is incoming, without any clue as to how.
Both during the initial battle and the battle in Manhattan, the girl and the black guy just hang out while the white guy dukes it out with the monster. The two do not join the other until all three have been given special weapons.
The admiral's stars are rotated 90 degrees. They should be on the center lines from the tips of his collar.
When the robots are flying to Manhattan, the control room says they are "climbing 22 degrees." They should be stating an altitude, not an angle.
When the monster is in Manhattan, Red says it's the largest one yet. It's the same size as the previous two.
