- Lucky Baskhar directed by Venky Atluri starring Dulquer Salmaan is a brillaint and engaging ride from start to finish. Dulquer Salmaan and the score by GVP are undoubtedly the main highlights of the film. They carried the film throughout. The film is excellent from a technical standpoint and also with the performances. Dulquer Salmaan potrayed the character of Baskhar brilliantly , he made the audience connect with the character and we went on a journey with him. The score by GVP is also the other highlight elevating every scene and making it worthy for a theatre experience. The film is also good visually with the cinematography of Nimish Ravi. The film has an engaging and fast paced screenplay which enhanced the overall experience. The editing work and camera work is also great. Overall, I loved this film. I watched the malayalam dub version and I didn't have any complaints with it , it was great. I also watched it with a good crowd and there was hooting and cheering throughout the film and that is another thing I liked about the film , the mass moments were organic and not forced. Brillaint direction by Venky Atluri. Great Watch.

Lucky Baskhar
An intriguing drama brilliantly conveying how money can change the life of an Indian middle class common man.
The plot of the story revolves around Baskhar,a bank cashier on how he cleverly uses the public money in the bank and how he takes advantage of the fraudulent financial scams in the country.
Exceptional story telling by Venky Atluri through a tight bound screenplay keeping the audience hooked to the screen. The first half of the movie portrays the minor crimes in the financial sector and the latter half shows how shallow the financial scams can affect the economy.
Venky has brewed family emotions, responsibilities and burdens of a middle class salaried man brilliantly to the story and gives the viewers a better insight visually on how money can be differentiated both as a need and desire.
Hats off to Venky & team for the phenomenal casting in the movie especially the characters in the bank premises giving avenues for their performances. DQ has spectacularly played the role of Bhaskar and his character arc is evident through distinct layers across the movie. Lucky Baskhar will be marked as one of the best performances in his filmography. Impressive performances by Meenakshi Choudhary,Sachin Khedekar & Ramki.
Splendid cinematography by Nimish Ravi marks his name in the Telugu industry and accurate cuts on the editing table by Navin Nooli gives a visual delight to the audience. Good music & BGM's by G V Prakash Kumar and the brilliant setting of the Mumbai streets and the bank by Benglann is worth mentioning.
A must watch movie in theatres for an engaging and entertaining show by Venky & DQ.

Very Lucky Bhaskar!
The story is related to 1992 scam. Well written and adapted for a screenplay. Interesting throughout.
Dulquer delivered a splendid performance. Not a completely positive role. But a good anti hero kind of role. Meenakshi - a neat performance. Other cast were good.
Music and cinematography are neat. The set for 1990s is very beautiful.
Overall an engaging narrative till the end with many little surprises. A decent drama. A different story in mainstream cinema.
Must watch if you love different and good cinema. Many good thoughts and beautiful messages in the film. Loved it!
Clear Winner in cinemas!!!

The acting and story are at highest standard and the movie is worth watching any number of times. Excellent.
Bhaskar is lucky and the viewer too will learn something new from this movie, the story is revolving around how big financial frauds can happen and how they keep everyone in loop is the main crux of movie with better story telling meanwhile showing family relations and effects of being rich is worth watching. No part of the movie seems dragging and is exciting to watch till the end.
Verdict: Money + Family + Respect + Middle class life + Respect to elders advise + learn from mistakes Must watch.

The ultimate fantasy of an Indian middle-class man. There's really no other way to describe this movie. The story or even the presentation may not be anything new but it is designed to entertain the audience as a total commercial movie even without any action or item songs that are expected out of one, especially from the Telugu industry. Usually, I never choose to watch a dubbed movie, but Dulquer being a Malayali and the almost 60% or something dialogues in the movie coming from him helped make it not feel too much of a dubbed movie and didn't make me regret not traveling a 100 km to watch in the original Telugu language. When it is well made, movies like this that touch a chord with the middle-class struggle and show where they can reach from there will always work with the audience. But it's also good to remember this is all a fantasy because most are not Lucky Baskhars and even when some get lucky like that, they end up more like Harshad Mehta.

Lucky Bhaskar is an engaging and heartwarming cinematic experience that strikes a fine balance between humor, drama, and emotion. Directed with flair and featuring a charismatic lead performance, the movie keeps you entertained from start to finish.
The story revolves around Bhaskar, a charming yet flawed underdog whose journey through unexpected twists is both relatable and inspiring. The screenplay is tight, with witty dialogues that often catch you off guard. The humor feels natural, and the emotional beats hit just the right notes without feeling overly sentimental.
The performances are stellar, particularly by the lead actor, who brings life to Bhaskar's character with impeccable comic timing and subtle emotional depth. The supporting cast is equally commendable, adding richness to the story. The chemistry between the characters is palpable, making their relationships feel authentic.
The direction deserves special mention for seamlessly blending lighthearted moments with profound themes about self-discovery, resilience, and the meaning of "luck." The cinematography captures the essence of the film's vibrant settings, while the music complements the narrative beautifully.
However, the film isn't without its flaws. A couple of plot points feel predictable, and the pacing drags slightly in the second half. But these are minor hiccups in an otherwise delightful movie.
Overall, Lucky Bhaskar is a feel-good entertainer with a meaningful core. It's a movie that will make you laugh, tug at your heartstrings, and leave you with a smile. Highly recommended for those who enjoy a mix of comedy, drama, and an uplifting story.

Film Review: Lucky Bhaskar
Lucky Bhaskar is a thriller that starts with promise but struggles to maintain its momentum. While the premise is intriguing, the execution leaves much to be desired. The storytelling feels a bit lazy, with noticeable plot holes that disrupt the narrative flow. Despite a few twists and decent performances, the film lacks the edge-of-your-seat excitement one expects from the genre.
Engagement wanes as the story progresses, and the thrills remain underwhelming. That said, it may appeal to casual viewers looking for light entertainment. Overall, it's a passable watch, but not particularly memorable for seasoned thriller fans.

It's a fun movie to watch but what message are we supposed to get from it? Scam and move to abroad and nothing will happen to you?
India already has a high corruption rate and weak accountability of law and such movies instead of showing that scamming ruins lives not just for the people who do but a lot others who get effected.
If you wanna know about Harshad Mehta scam, read The Scam book or watch Sony series but this movie is nothing but a drama that tries to glorify a criminal by portraying how "smart" he was, how "lucky" he was, how he "cared" about his family and probably did nothing wrong.
Stop glorifying criminals!!

If there are massy movies in the Telugu industry, there are also movies like this one that, for a change, arrest you in your seat.
A simple cashier working at a bank starts rolling money into risky investment schemes, only to get addicted to it. How his life gets embroiled in the world of money laundering while managing his family forms the crux of the story.
Set in the 90s, the tale runs parallel to the Harshad Mehta era, which lends credibility to its fictional portrayal. The story balances emotions and financial intricacies in the right measure. What works best is that the movie is written in such a simple manner that, even without spoon-feeding, viewers can fully grasp the financial terms. With all the fraudulent acts the lead attempts to pull off, you are bound to sit on the edge of your seat with bated breath. The narrative takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, navigating the character's highs and lows.
Dulquer Salmaan completely embodies the character. This simple-looking yet layered role is made believable through his honest portrayal. For the superstar that he is and given his relatively young age, it is commendable how he adapts to playing an older man with grey hair and a young child. Meenakshi Chaudhary, despite limited screen time, provides solid support. Every small or big character plays their part brilliantly.
To recreate the 90s, the art department has done a commendable job, making the setting look authentic. The BGM and songs enhance the overall aura of the film. The climactic twist is something you won't see coming, and it works big time. Special mention must go to the costume designer for making Venky Alturi's world feel real.
This film truly deserves your time, and you can be sure that you will be thoroughly entertained. It's a movie with a strong plot, solid performances, and thrilling moments-everything you've been looking for.

I watched the Hindi-dubbed version of Lucky Bashkar and was thoroughly impressed! The story is fast-paced, packed with twists, and keeps you hooked till the end. Bashkar's transformation from an unlucky gambler to a brilliant strategist is quite exciting, with well-developed characters adding depth to the narrative.
The final gamble, where Bashkar outsmarts his rivals, was a thrilling highlight, and the emotional climax left a lasting impact. The background score perfectly enhances the tension and drama, making the experience even better.
If you enjoy smart, gripping thrillers, Lucky Bashkar is a must-watch! The Hindi dubbing was seamless and didn't compromise the film's intensity.

Director Venky Atluri, after the success of Sir, returns with Lucky Baskhar, a gripping period crime drama that delves into the Bombay of a bygone era, when scams dominated the financial world. Set alongside the infamous 1992 securities fraud, the film explores how fortunes were made on the stock market by exploiting Bank Receipts. Atluri's narrative charts the journey of a man whose resolve to uplift his family propels him to extraordinary lengths.
Dulquer Salmaan, who transforms into Baskhar, delivers a performance that is simple, balanced, and profoundly effective. He pours life into the role, making Bhaskar relatable and approachable, drawing audiences into his journey with an authentic portrayal. Meenakshi Chaudhary, seen previously in a limited role in Guntur Kaaram, is seen in a more substantial role here, and she shines as Sumathi, the devoted wife and mother. Her portrayal adds depth to the film's emotional landscape. The supporting cast, which includes seasoned actors like Ramki, Sachin Khedekar, P. Sai Kumar, Tinnu Anand, and Raghu Babu, as well as younger actors like Rithvik, Maanasa Choudhary, Hyper Aadi, Srinath Maganti, and Surya Sreenivas, deliver solid performances that effectively support the main narrative.

The film's biggest strengths are the story and the world-building.
It's got a complicated backdrop, but they've kept it dead simple to follow. No baffling bits; the writers have done a cracking job. But, after sometime, the plot does get a bit cinematic, if you know what I mean.
The execution's well thought out, and it all comes together nicely. There's no faffing about with unnecessary comedy, romance, or fight scenes-it's all straight to the point.
Good cinematography, set design, and costumes, though the songs are a bit naff.
Dulkar in the lead role is decent, but Meenakshi, as the female lead, has a lengthy role that's not all that gripping, and her acting is a bit subpar. The rest of the cast really shines, though.
Venki Atluri's direction is alright.
It might not be a great film, but it's worth a watch in the cinema-you'll likely enjoy it!

The movie starts with a middle class man who is a cashier in the Magadha Bank portrayed by Dulquer Salman, he has acted in the film brilliantly and this is his one of the best films of his career.
The movie portrays how a middle class man struggle to survive by providing facilities to his family members and the need of the money becomes greediness.
The story and direction of the movie done by Venky Atlury which is awesome, and the cinematography done by Nimish Ravi which is absolutely good.
Overall it is a must watch movie of 2024 and you can watch it with your family and friends.
I would give 8 stars out of 10. I really enjoyed it watching this movie, there is none of boring scenes in the movie.

Lucky Bhaskar (2024) :
Brief Review -
A love letter to all the scam lovers, with no luck. Almost every Indian must have heard about some rich scammer who robbed our banks and economy and then flew away to some foreign country. You hate them; you call them by names. But did you ever think that the man might have been very poor once? Lucky Bhaskar is a tale of a middle-class man, actually lower class since his pocket is always empty and he has a dozen debts, who rises from the struggle to a rich man with a lot of arrogance and pride. "I am not arrogant; I am just rich," he tells his wife, who is gradually becoming accustomed to his arrogance and is finding him despicable after having crores in a bank account. Now it's a big joke that the same wife has no issues running away with him to some foreign country and using a no-limit credit card. Lucky Bhaskar is not hesitant about such logics that don't merge well with common man's features like principles and honesty. You earn Rs. 100 by fraud and then donate Rs. 50 and try to be a hero. But the other Rs. 50 makes you a villain also. This is a film of that man, who is half hero and half villain. Now it's up to you which part you like. That also means that you like half the film and dislike half of it. Not that Bhaskar's character deserved any sympathy; he was right in his place, but it was his wife and father that went wrong. They pretend to be so genuine and then accompany Bhaskar in the biggest escape of his life. He played well against the big rats, though. They couldn't beat him, and that makes him a victorious hero. The screenplay is tight except for those comedic songs that don't suit the con theme. Dulquer Salmaan carries the entire film on his shoulder while the rest of the cast add their decent support. Venky Atluri brings some Hollywood-style frames here, only to find that they have become old for smart movie buffs. However, they are new for regular audiences, especially in the local market. Overall, a good attempt at an interesting genre.

Overall, a good attempt at an interesting genre.

1. Story takes place in Bombay but everyone speaks Telugu. Every single one. Please I request Indian filmmakers to stay authentic to the story instead of pandering. Venky should have made a straight Hindi film. In 1990s Bombay, a car dealer tells Baskhar that Megastar Chiranjeevi had bought a car from them. Not Bachchan.
2. Film says that Harshad Mehta used dot matrix printer to print fake BRs, obtained a bank's letterhead, stamp and forged signature of some AGM Hari Haran, himself. He wasn't Abdul Telgi. The film portrays him as some shadowy villainous mafia don figure who doesn't care even if someone dies just to show Bhaskar as a hero.
3. Repeated use of the same technique of showing protagonist in trouble only to reveal what a smarta.s.s he is. There is an error during the scene where it is revealed he already removed the 10 lakhs cash from his suitcase and placed it in a tray and inverted it but the tray is facing up and down between shots.
4. Exaggerated slapstick reactions from a few side characters like a guy acting like he is electrocuted while peeing, beggar-turned-minister comedy and stupid scenes like CBI officer clapping and saying wow like in a typical commercial movie ruin the scenes.
5. Hilariously shows a CBI officer as part of the securities and bank receipts scam.
6. Our protagonist is a fictional character not based on anyone who existed during HM's time. Atleast don't involve real persons in a fictional character's story. It is hard to digest that a guy amassed a total of 100 crores from HM by blackmailing him. It would have never happened. Actually it never happened otherwise it would have been in the show because it is a significant event. But this film wants you to believe that this fictional character outsmarted HM.
7. Too many conveniences and expositions are written just to show that our protagonist can get out of any mess because he can see the future and plan ahead.
8. That scene where Baskhar's son explains that he won't get even half the chocolate if he complained was hilarious. Who wrote that sh.it? A newly opened small-time home cooked food shop is suddenly getting huge orders from Dubai and the wife thinks this is a normal day in Bombay.
9. The ending was also disappointing and a series of conveniencies for Baskhar. There's too much spoon feeding. Every single thing is explained in detail like the viewers are dumb and cannot think for themselves. Somehow the CBI officer is explaining how, what, when and why Baskhar did what he did to emerge as a winner. Bro how would that CBI officer know all that? How does he know that Baskhar found out about the involvement of GM Vinod and Chairman Lokhande when he read the bank statements? Did Baskhar whisper it in his ears? It completely ruins the immersion.
10. Blatant rip-off of theme music from Loki tv series.
11. It is unclear what the film is trying to say in the end. He is a good guy because he committed all kinds of frauds hilariously not leaving a single evidence like his obvious overwrites of vault balance in the register book, became crazy rich, arrogant, but listened to his father and wife and grew conscience when a guy died of not taking his meds? And Harshad Mehta is not? Atleast Harshad never left the country. Sorry Bhaskar, you are not (SRK's) Don to commit the perfect crime and fool the authorities at the same time.

I'm amazed by what DQ's versatility outside Mollywood. From a business standpoint, Tollywood has been very good with combination of fantastic writing with lead actors from the outside who are bound to sell the film in other sectors.
The writing takes the cake here, a scam film but you need to back the 'bad guy' - can go so wrong but it didn't; the middle class guy in you wants him to win at life. Set design like you'd totally believe that it's from a long time ago. I loved how they put a disclaimer out that said "The film is set in Bombay but the characters will be speaking in Telugu for our primary audience" Simple. That's all you had to do instead of making them speak in horrible forced accents (I hope Jothika and the makers of Kanguva took notes)
While it's based around the Harshad Mehta scam and narrated as a biopic, the way it's written in such a way that this feels like a heist story and it feels thrilling like a heist story should. DQ was amazing and so was the support cast around him. Interesting to see Meenakshi play a role that had some substance vs what she was asked to do in GOAT; good for her.
Is it as mind-blowing as people say it is? Not if you've seen heist movies in the past, but it's a good movie nevertheless; one that you wouldn't want to miss out on.

Atluri's engaging screenplay is complemented by a production team that meticulously recreates the retro vibe of the era. Cinematographer Nimish Ravi and art director Banglan beautifully capture the charm of bygone eras, with warm tones and film grain creating a unique cinematic experience. The film's dialogues are well-crafted, delivering impact whenever required, and adding to the film's immersive storytelling. While the songs may lack recall value after leaving the cinema, GV Prakash Kumar's background score significantly enhances the narrative. Editor Navin Nooli keeps the narrative tight and engaging, though a few scenes could have benefitted from tighter pacing especially in the second half.
Lucky Baskhar emerges as a captivating period crime thriller, blending a nostalgic backdrop with a tale of human ambition and resilience. Venky Atluri's direction, coupled with Dulquer Salmaan's nuanced portrayal of Baskhar and a strong supporting cast, makes for an engaging cinematic experience.
